Default Sound Deadening

I just sound deadened the rear of my crew cab tonight. I've always wanted to try this, it's tedious to say the least. I still have the doors & front to go & may wait until after the first of the year to finish. It really does isolates the inside though. I used the products from Sound Deadener Showdown.
One thing, you can really see the build quality when you take a truck apart like that!

Cool idea.. do you have any pictures to post of your project?

I visited their website.. sounds like one of these products may cure my headliner rattle I am currently suffering from. Anyone have any thoughts?

.... and what was your opinion on the build quality you got to see?

I didn't take any pics. I didn't think about it as it was 2:00 in the morning. Looking back I should have. The build quality on our trucks looks good to me. I'm no expert, but you can hide alot with carpet & padding. The welded joints were clean & everything was neat, didn't have that thrown together look. All the bolts are high grade & everything went back together without any hassle (thank goodness!) As far as headliner rattle, they have the CLD tiles that might help. I would think, however that something might be loose up there.

There is also a product called "Fat Mat" that I bought off ebay for another car, I think I bought 100 sq. ft. for about $140.00 vs 36 sq. ft. for Dynamat! same stuff, better pricing as they don't pay Chip Foose to endorse it! <G>
I installed it in my 63 Avanti, and made a HUGE difference.

Dynamat is the most overpriced stuff out there. Fatmat is a good alternative, but I've found that the Damplifier/Damplifier Pro is the best stuff to use, and it's just a bit more expensive than the Fatmat. I like the Damplifier because it's thicker and you don't need nearly as much compared to the thinner stuff like Dynamat.

I also line the floors and fire wall with Luxury Liner Pro to absolutely kill any engine or road noise.
