Default Driveshaft

Just bought an 88 Dodge W150 4x4 and on the drive home, the rear driveshaft snapped in half due to rust. Where can I get another one and do any other Dodge vehicles have the same shaft I could use?

Weird thing is, it didn't have a slip yolk where it goes into the transfer case, I thought they all did.

this would be your best bet here http://www.carpartsdiscount.com/auto...html?3594=2089

or you could always check out your local pick n pull. we can get you one from a1 manufacturing it is a little more expensive and also has a $53 core charge.

hope this helps

Thanks

None of my local junkyards have these old Dodges in them. I need the entire rear driveshaft assembly, I can only find the front driveshaft online.

I've had this same problem with my 1988 chevy k5 blazer. the rear driveshaft splines (not a slip yoke driveshaft) were sloppy and caused a horrible vibration. I couldn't find a rear driveshaft if my life depended on it. I had to have a custom one made by a local driveline shop. Cost around $200.

You could always search ebay or craigslist

I have, but why would I put $200 in a truck I paid $1,000 for?... I guess if I ABSOLUTELY had to... I found one in PA online, I live in OH. $75+$50 in gas with my little 5 speed Corolla. I'd rather do $125 than $200.

No you don't want to do that... If new is $200, you're better off new. That $125 driveshaft is going to take your time to get there and back, and that's worth more then $50. It'll probably need to be balanced too. How much will your local driveline shop charge for balancing?

I'm going to use this truck as a snow and mud truck. It's not my daily driver. Why would it need balanced? It's a used one pulled off an 87 W150.
