Default Lifting Cab & Body off Chassis to Replace Rusted Exhaust System

My (Recently-Purchased) 2002 Ram 1500 4.7L 2WD...

Apparently, this truck was run through SALT, which caused corrosion damage to most metal of the under-hood components...

and Entire Exhaust System.

There is no way I am going to be able to remove those exhaust manifolds, without breaking a few (if not all of the) bolts.

So, I decided to remove the Bed & Cab, to have full access to the engine while doing the inevitable, extracting broken bolts from the cylinder head.

Let the dissecting begin...

Floating Bed...

Half-Naked Truck...

FYI: Really easy to lift the bed on these. It took me a leisurely 2hours to remove the rear bumper and bed.

That was all the spare time I had today... and will begin to tackle the cab removal tomorrow.

Gonna be playing TETRIS in my mini-garage...

Good work. I had to do that to my f-150 to get to the fuel pump in my driveway. Took four of us to lift the bed off and set it in the grass. We didn't have the fancy crane you have. It was tempting to drive around with the bed off! it looks cool haha. Good luck with that cab!

Thanks!

... I don't have 4 friends I can count on, LOL ... so that crane is my best friend and doesn't require beer.

Teeter-Tottering up till enough clearance to roll chassis out from under...

There's the 34" clearance I need...

Full access, that's what I am talking about...

Turned the first nut, and the stud broke... sign of things to come...

You ever seen an iron block shed it's skin?
