Why not grab a 4WD Ramcharger. You can't kill 'em. They're tanks. Even the 2WD tops 5000 lbs curb weight. I drive mine daily. No monthly note, cheap maintenance, and being 2wd it gets 15mpg. I consider the mileage a trade-off for the security on the interstate. The '90 has FI, but it's not much more complicated than earlier models. I have an '84 4WD that will be changed to stick shift eventually. The stick in mind has the double low, "granny" first gear. Coupled with 4low that sucker will climb a tree! More often than not you can find one with a 30 gal fuel tank.
