Bassa--The headers are bolting up to the stock exhaust. Sometime I may open up the exhaust more, but this truck is what I run my grass cutting business out of so I don't want it to be too loud. My customers might get mad lol

I accidentally threw the engine completely out of time while disassembling. Couple questions to make sure i put it back correctly.
If my crank is at top dead center (according to the harmonic balancer on the timing cover) and my camshaft marker is straight down am I in time??? Also the distributor is facing 180* away from the cylinder 1 firing.. I believe cylinder one is on the compression stroke at TDC and that makes me believe I set the timing correctly.
Also do I just torque down the rocker arms to 21 ft lbs to set them? I know other engines (smallblock chevys for sure) you have to get out the feeler gauges and adjust each valve

Not sure on the cam - but TDC should have the distributor rotor pointing at the #1 cylinder location on the distributor cap.

I figured it out. The crank will rotate twice to the cams one rotation. If the crank says TDC it doesn't mean its on the compression necessarily. Thats how you time an engine 180 degrees off.

Finally finished the truck and got it running. The new flowtech headers don't mount up to the old exhaust like they should. There in the right place but the bracket is off. Truck runs good and is loud and mean sounding with the headers not mounted to the exhaust

Those heads normally crack between the intake and exhaust seats. For the pushrods true it doesnt matter but they should go in the sameslot they came out of. as sand blasting can deform metal. Valve sequence is torque to 24 ft/lbs only if the engine was not rotated prior to installation. hope helps
