Default Rebuilding my 2000 Dodge Ram engine and tranny

Hey everyne, I'm new here and not really an expert on cars, but really could use some help. I have a 2000 Dodge Ram 1500 Laramie SLT. it has about 168,000 miles on it. Since I purchased it last February, I have replaced the starter, water pump, battery terminals, Tires, power steering belt, and radiator. My issue is it has a small oil leak and burns oil really fast. I just took it for a 3000 mile oil check and he said it burned up the high performance oil and it was kinda tar like. Is there a reason why?Does it sound like my engine is bad? I don't know if I should put the effort into fixing it or if it can be fixed. I don't really wanna purchase a new vehicle right now. Can anyone tell me about this and how long did the engines typically last for the 2000 model? I'd love to get at least 230,000 miles out of it. Again sorry if this is a long post or if this isn't the right forum for this question, but any help would be appreciated. Thanks guys

Sounds like you might have to fix your intake. Some 2nd gen guys should chime in shortly.
