Again the goal of the grill block is to REDUCE airflow into the engine bay. Adding vents sets you right back to square one if not worse. Unless you have active grill shutter you'd only want to block some of the grill not all of it. Maybe play around with corrugated black plastic. Start with 25% of the grill blocked and see how cooling is then add or subtract since corrugated plastic is cheap.
Also the blocking can be inside the grill between the grill and radiators. The new vehicles with grill blocking tech all have them hidden behind the grill and radiators.
