Default Same tick

Ok guys, new to site....just read this. My Hemi has the *tick*, I know enough about engines to notice it right away. The dealer gave me a 3000 mile/ 3 month warranty, so I guess I better go have it looked at. They already replaced my front tie rods on a recall they day after I bought it. Thanks for the info.

Sean

Default Dealer says NOPE

So I checked with the dealer this afternoon about this; told me there is no recall for it, and that SERVICE ACTION #10-009 isn't covered under the cheap warranty they gave me. The truck is a 2009 with about 61k miles on it. They quoted me about $350 to do the work listed in the Service action. Nice Dodge, nice!

UPDATE: After finally getting the dealer to look at the "ticking" noise, low and behold, they found a craked exhaust manifold on the drivers side with broken bolts! Dealer has to order the gasket which should be in next week. About $470 worth of labor and parts, one stud has to be drilled and tapped. I agreed to pay a $100 deductible since I bought it used, I figured that was fair enough. My build date is 1/09, with 62k miles on it.

I get these all the time at work. Rear bolts always break on the hemi and 4.7l exhaust manifolds. Usually its the passenger side. I've never had to replace the actual manifold. I just replace the gasket and all the bolts. Quick job with an easy-out (if its the passenger side)

Just a quick question. I'm planning on doing this on the weekend (at least one passenger side stud is snapped - gonna replace all studs and bolts and the gasket) and am trying to track down parts. Local dealer parts guy suggested I will need to replace the ex. pipe to manifold bolts/nuts as well, which basically doubles the price of the fix. Do I need to disconnect the ex pipe to get at the broken studs, or might it be possible to just pull it out of the way? I guess it depends on how the stud broke off? I can always buy the parts and return them if I don't need them, but does anyone have any input?

Thanks guys

Is this issue primarily with the hemi's or are the 4.7's effected?
