I had this Kenwood in the garage from another vehicle I had and I am so used to looking over and seeing a map of where i am . LOL
I bought the installation kit from ebay . $85 - came with the
PAC C2R_CHY4 , antenna plug and the mounting brackets
this is their 2010 model i think
my 2010 does not have the outlet on the right side of the radio surround so i only had to remove the 2 - T20 torx from the top .
I sat at the kitchen table for about 30 minutes splicing the the harnesses together , the colors were exact and the direction on what to do was right on. they give you 2 harnesses in the kit -- one for alpine amp set up and one without amp.
after the face plate was off I just let it hang down , I didnt disconnect any of the heater control or the other stuff.
then just plugged in the harness , antenna , microphone , gps antenna and the auxilary input wire for listening to pandora or slacker radio . this Kenwood unit comes with a USB wire that comes out the back that you can plug any phone wire into it.
the radio fit so tight in the hole that i used a file to loosen up the fit and the metal plate in the back i just used the handle of a hammer to bend the bracket open -- still a very snug fit.. but nice
the mounting brackets that go on the sides of the radio had to be altered alittle -- I had to break off the tabs so that the face plate clips would fit through .
came out nice
biggest issue was setting up my bluetooth for my new phone -- i emailed Kenwood today (saturday) at 1130am asking if there was something i was missing , and they emailed me back around 2pm with the answer . I couldnt believe they emailed me back so fast and with the correct answer of what I needed to do to get the new samsung note 2 to connect bluetooth. everything works great now .
i have a couple apline r type 10's , amp , and a 30 farad cap , but nt sure if i want to bother jambing all that stuff in this truck . been there and done that before and its a big pain in the butt !
