Can anyone with a 2013 tell me if the problem is still unresolved with the new wheel to wheel side step design?

I like the look of the factory bars but after reading this and seeing how they mount with the special nuts I'm looking for something else because the factory mounting system is useless.
I found a video on You Tube with mounts that look to be a lot better using backing plates and the factory body mount.
Here are some pictures from the video.

That looks solid, Keith. I'm still going to get the factory wheel to wheel side steps for my reg cab, and hopefully they'll be mounted properly with hardware that's tightened. Funny thing is, my main reason for getting side steps is to avoid door dings.

If I were to get the factory steps I would make a plate that goes on the inside of the rocker instead of using the factory special collapsing nuts and maybe try to add a brace to the front body mount.
I've got some heavy weight friends and the last thing I want is for the rockers to get damaged.
Good point about door dings too.

These are the smittybuilt nerf bars in the pics. I just put a set on they look good and are solid. Also were the cheaper of the lot. I have only had the Ram for a week so far baby step for the wife lol

That mounting looks like it is for the Westin step bars.

At least, that's how my Westin bars are mounted. Very sturdy.

I have the Bully NC-215. They have 3 mounting points for each side. I weigh 320lbs and haven't noticed mine flexing any after having them for a little over a year.

I wouldn't have probably purchased them as I was going to get black steps but then I found them with no bids @ $12 and $37 shipping and won it. For $49 shipped they were a steal. Upon opening I did discover a small round dent in one (factory mishap as they were sealed) but other than that they were great!

Not sure myself but unless I made a mistake it looks like the Westin web site shows the mounts that go to the body mounts on the rams are only up to 2008.

What type bars do you have and on what vehicle?

Mine's a '12 CC.

I've got Westin 3" Round bars, e-series, IIRC.

I wonder if the Westin bars that aren't curved don't go to the body mounts?
