Default MPG comparison 05 5.9 vs. 13 5.7

In making my decision to trade my Cummins to the 5.7, I used the argument that fuel is around a buck cheaper and that would make up the difference. I read a few sites including the Feds and was willing to accept the mixed use average of 17.

My 2500 mixed use was right at 19-20 with a Smarty Programmer set at 70hp. I have put 1500 miles on the 5.7 and its average use for 1300 of those is 13.4 My mixed use is about 60% interstate and 40% highway.

Does this get better, or is this my new life?

You're in lexington, KY?

I don't believe your at 60% or even 40% highway, unless you're commuting to Georgetown/Richmond every day....traffic is terrible there! I lived there from 2000 - 2005, so I understand the traffic.

Seriously though, the engine will loosen up a bit by 5k miles, give it some time.

Plus, you're in the middle of winter, with oxygenated gas, which also makes the MPG's worse.

At first I didn't know if I should be pissed that you feel you know my driving better than I do, but as I read on, I realize you're a pretty smart feller I live in northern Scott County, so everything I do is in Lexington, Georgetown, Frankfort, or NKY.

So I guess I will wait till around 5000 and see if it improves.
