The correct replacement gasket is just as good a a Hughes kit and a lot cheaper.

Hi I trust your truck has a 5.2 or 5.9 engine , and for how long they will run
mine has 360,000 kilometers on it and will not quit , I had a similar problem
when I first got the truck 3 years ago intake plenum gasket was the culpret
as well as using oil I had a high idle then , fixed it and no more .

i did the hughesengine plenum gasket kit and it works great!!! It took me about ten hours(4 broke bolts from whoever did it last) on the website theres detailed step by step instructions that walk you through it!!! to test for plenum gasket failure remove pvc hose from manifold and check vacuum..if its sucking then its blown.

I put the hughes kit on mine and the advantage is you will probably never have to do it again because the original uses a steel plate attached to an aluminum manifold. When heated and cooled the two metals expand and contract at different rate and the object in the middle ( the gasket) gets tugged at eventually giving way. The hughes kit uses a 1/4" aluminum plate and therefore no difference in the interaction of heating and cooling. Hughe's all the way is my reccomandation.

Another check for the gasket gone is take the cover off your throttle body and open the butterflys, if it is dark and oilly looking inside with a flashlight the gasket is leaking.
