The 87mm is probably overkill, you'll ever be able to use the amount of air that the 87 could flow. You'll be decreasing your intake velocity at the expense of volume and will sacrifice your bottom end a bit but gaining it in the top end when you're pulling maximum vacuum. If you were to go with an oversized TB then look at an 84mm or 85mm to maintain your intake velocity but allow better volume. The 85mm will still maintain sufficient flow even if you go LT headers and allows for future modification.

One more think, I know everyone on here like's the one Moe's makes but I have fond a 84mm fastman for sale is there a noticeable difference??? i'm asking because I keep seeing people selling the fastman's and don't know if they are not liking them and upgrading or they are just selling them

Fastman does do good work, and the 84mm is a TRUE 84mm butterfly valve with an 85mm initial bore and has a half-shaft rather than a shaft on either side of the butterfly valve, this will give you a more laminar flow through the TB.

The Moe's 87mm is an 87mm initial bore, but there is no listing what the butterfly bore is, but judging by all the pictures it necks down right at the butterfly. I know that OEM TBs are used to start with, so he's limited to a finite bore and it's definitely not 87mm at the butterfly. The claim is that it will fit with a completely stock motor, so by that fact your entry thickness is extremely thin. If you look at any of the other TB's over 85mm, they are all original casts, so I'm trying to figure out how Matt has done an 87mm without needing a completely new body.

Rep's and thanks for all the help. I'm wanting the most I can get out of my truck just don't want to jump on the the hipe and waist money like I see so many on here doing. I like everything about the 84mm fastman just didn't know why everyone was going with the Moe's.

It's because North America has been raised to believe that bigger is better. Most people don't understand the flow characteristics that are needed to produce power, and intake velocity equals torque, which is what our engines need to get their big asses moving.
