Default 2001 tuner

Looking at a tuner for my 2001 5.9 4x4.

Any suggestions/advice anyone can offer would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Default programmer

I also have the 01 Ram 5.9 and im running an evo ht from Edge Products. I spent around $300 for it, and it makes a noticeable difference. Better have a tranny shop on hand though, cause everytime you change your settings youll have to adjust your tranny as well.

I was under the impression the tuner would make the Tranny adjustments too? What Tranny adjustments have to be altered?

I will do you a favor and tell you to go search for hemi fever tuning and go to their website. Buy the SCT Tuner and save yourself time and money wasted on other tuners. The SCT tune by hemi fever offers a canned (preset) package for $265. Then if you decide to do extensive mods to your motor, for $100.00 more you will receive custom tuning done by hemi fever. Don't waste your time with other brands man. I did with super chips and finally got the SCT.

Hey thanks 98sst! What kind of perfomance did you get out of the off the shelf boxed tuner? Was there a significant difference? Torque/horsepower? Top end/out of thre hole?

Well the first difference I noticed was the redline is increased slightly. The butt dyno notices more power around the mid range, for example hitting it at 40 mph where the truck is just past it's kick down point. I unfortunately have to use the 91 octane tune because we don't have 93 here, and that option is available :/. I couldn't really place my finger on specific numbers correlated with gains, but you won't be disappointed I believe.

What tranny adjustments are you referring to?
