Default Radio Help

Ok So in my 2011 I have the Media Center 130 with CD/MP3 I also have the steering wheel mounted audio controls and the Uconnect Voice Command w/Bluetooth. That's right off my build sheet. I want to buy one of Bpalmers radios. I want the full nav with the ability to upgrade to the back up camera in a few months. Does it matter if I get the Mygig RHR or RHB w/ Garmin nav. Will both of them work the same and one with just the Garmin maps or what is the case.

Thanks

O also does the whole lock pick thing just lets me add extra inputs and play video while driving? Or am I off base with this.

If some one has any input that would be great.

There are differences between the RHB and RHR radios.

RHB - will most likely plug and play. The GPS is Garmen based, and most of the Canadian owners seem to prefer this GPS option. You will not be able to input a destination while driving with this radio unless you buy and install a lockpick or similar device.

RHR- This radio will require a new cable to connect the Uconnect mirror (with the microphones) to the radio. The current Uconnect module in the truck will also need to be disconnected. From what I've read here, this GPS is not liked by the Canadian owners because it routes additional miles (sometimes in the neighborhood of 500+ miles) over the shortest route. This GPS can be given directions through the voice control while driving so you don't have to pull over to put a destination into the GPS. (Or buy and install the lockpick)..

Both radios will respond to the steering wheel controls and communicate with the EVIC. I know the RHR will show the GPS turn directions in the EVIC, not sure about the RHB.

I installed an RHR unit in my 2009 Sport 1500 and love it. I have a post on here on how I installed it.. Feel free to ask any other question that comes up. (Hopefully I'll have an answer LOL)..

Hope this helps.

RHB uses Garmin mapping
RHR uses Navteq mapping

they will not work the same
Garmin mapping seems to be more accurate

both radios work well with the back up camera
no lockpick needed, unless you want to watch movies while driving

Thanks for all the great info. I bought the RHB and cant wait for it to get here. This whole lock pick thing allows me to just watch movies while driving? or can I change the nav while moving? Do any of them support front camers?

Both designs of aftermarket add on (Allgig or lockpick) will support backup cameras. Only one of them supports a front camera (and side, and baby monitor). Both will allow GPS input while moving.
