Default Mopar Side Step vs Wheel-to-wheel ??

Hello everyone,

I remember hearing on one of the videos that the side steps have been redesigned to become more aerodynamic and actually help add some MPG...however, there are two options when building the truck and I'm not sure which one is the "better."

Also, what do each look like? Have to get the lady-friends "seal of approval" before adding on any options!

Thanks in advance!

The wheel to wheel is the new one that they say helps with mpg and a step up for the truck bed. The Mopar is shorter.

I personally like the look of the longer wheel to wheel ones better

I wanted the wheel to wheel steps but they won't give you a credit for the ones that come with the Longhorn. So it costs the same amount as putting them on a truck that doesn't come with sidesteps. The price difference between the two steps on Mopar is only about $40. It's cheaper to order them from Mopar and then sell your takeoffs. Pretty stupid pricing setup on the Longhorn.

Are they put on the truck well? I read in another forum that people were having their steps come loose? I'm a pretty big boy (330 lbs), so I'd want to make sure when I step on it, I don't have it rip off the side of the truck.

Just curious if it is mounted to the frame or to the body? I would assume the new wheel to wheel would be mounted to the frame.

I installed the wheel to wheel on my '13 Crew Cab this weekend. Install took about 45 minutes, mainly due to having to install 12 Rivnuts into the body to attach the steps to. Overall, I really like them.

They're only attached to the body and not the frame? How solid are they? Could they hold over 300 lbs without bending anything?
