How heavily modified can I go (ex. heads, cam, etc) on a '93 5.2L without affecting the stock ecm? And is the performance ecm from summit any good and/or accepting of heavy mods? Thank you for you input.

The cam is the key. Back then, one Mag did a buildup with a '92 Dakota. The stock computer was used even with what was then, a prototype supercharger. So you're looking at around 330hp. They tried the aftermarket hiperf unit first, but it dialed in too much ignition timing, so they went back to the stocker. Once they bumped up the cam and added headers (remember, it was already supercharged), they needed more fuel than the stock computer could handle, so they re-installed the hiperf computer (and higher output injectors) and added an in-line supercharger timing retard device to keep the ignition from going too far and causing a bad case of the rattles. So, be it a cam/headered/exhausted, etc seup, or stock with a supercharger, you can knock out around 330hp give or take with the stock ecm. Just remember to keep the cam lobe separation of 112-114 degrees to keep the computer happy, and the valve lift below .500".
