yeah, didn't know the longhorn was only offered in c/c. but I asked about mods b/c the 4th gens are pretty quick with some basic mods. if you catch your Ford buddy sleeping at the light and doesn't get the turbos loaded even for a split second he'll lose. I think the stock EBs run in the high 14s.

some good times in here of lightly modded 4th gens

I would start with a 4.10 lsd and a good cai filter for your heavy truck. The eb's are running high 14's to low 15's so you need to be somewhere near those numbers to compete with ur freind. Your stock exhaust is good as gold, louder isn't nessisarily faster. It will even sound like shit in most cases when mds kicks in so I'd save that for last. Gear and breather is good for starters and good for munching on eb's. I have a much lighter rcsb/3.92 so I have no problem with them. It's been a while since disposing of two...now they see me, hear me, and look away pretending I'm not there...oh well? EDIT: I forgot to mention that these mods I mention will not affect ur 2012 warranty. At some point down the road u can install a good converter fo a killer launch and holeshot but it will or possibly affect ur warranty.

So far no tuners have been released for the 2011+ models. Depending on what you want to do you can get a jump on some performance parts like the exhaust system and the typical intake. If your going for more performance (like a supercharger) in the long run I'd say go with the American Racing Long Tube Headers as they're a bit spendy so you might as well go ahead and get that out of the way now. If not, you can go with a pair of Shorty Headers from JBA. They bolt up to your catalytic converter and do a nice job of adding some more low end power to these trucks. Personally I wouldn't do a whole lot to the exhaust as the trucks do come with a decent set of pipes underneath, just switch out the muffler and have a new Y-pipe put in as the pinched stocker kind of sucks and delete the resonators if that's your thing as well.

Like suggested above...keep the exhaust simple with a cut and replace of your muffler. No need to do a whole lot there unless you wringing it all out. I'll be listing my aFe stage 2 CAI for sale next month if you are interested. I ordered my supercharger last week and won't have any use for it after the install.

CHVYKLR,

I live in Portsmouth, right around the corner. How much are you looking at asking for your intake? When might you be available for me to look at it? PM me when you get a chance, or when I get to my house, I'll PM you.

Maybe he has already lost races to trucks like urs and knows he can't beat you. If that's the case the race will race will never happen because he he can't get it tuned. If he ever tampers with it, ford will know and he will loose his warranty completely....even if it's just a simple exhaust mod.

I think we are gonna run soon. he doesnt care about the warranty lol it will get some bolt on and a tune soon. Hes getting at me cause on another forum Im listed as the fastest CC 4x4 4th gen ram. Hopefully this weekend we will get this over with and Ill put the vid up.

A guy I know has a extended cab ecoboost 4x4 with 3.55 gears had his best run at 13.72 with just an Airrad intake and a Edge tune as mods. No exhaust or other mods. As an owner of an Ecoboost and a previous owner of a 09 Hemi 1500, I will say that if you boost launch correctly then the Ecoboost will take the a stock Hemi. Running a tuned Eco vs a tuned Hemi will just make it worse since the Eco responds better to tuning due to forced induction. My Superchips 91 tune gains 54RWHP and 68RWTQ with just the tune alone not counting my CAI. Livernois's Ecoboost 93 tune gains 68 RWHP and 88RWTQ not including the CAI or exhaust. That roughly puts HP at the crank above 430 and TQ above 500 ft-lb with just the tune. So with ussual mods that most people put on(intake, exhaust, tuner) then the Eco will beat the Hemi with the same mods. Now if money was no limit, then yes, the Hemi will defenitly win the displacement war, but it would require $1000 plus to do it.

Versus a Hemi (well, it's a car but still a Hemi) and this was his worst run of the day.

The 13.72 run in a Supercab, 4x4, 3.55, 3.5L GTTDi with just a Edge 91 tune and an Airaid intake.

I would have to look at this truck in person cuz i got a friend with one and he runs low 10's in the 1/8... I bet this truck has nitrous some where.

I finally ran my buddy's ecoboost. His is a bone stock screw 4x4 XLT w/3:73s and 6.5ft bed. We went at it a few times, 2 from a dig and 2 from a roll. The first dig I stalled it to 2kish and jumped him a half fender and slowly pulled to 75ish and he got out of it. The 2nd dig I launched off idle and he jumped me by a fender and ran him down and passed him around 75 again and he got out of it. Then from a 25 roll we were even til 60ish and I pulled about a half truck and got out of it at 75ish. The final roll was at 40. He jumped me bad about at half truck and was coming around him and as soon as I got close he got out of it. All the runs I was in tow/haul. The ecoboosts are fast truck, and if I dont do anything to mine I can confidently say when he is running a tune he will definitely smoke me lol. I had a 1/2 tank of gas and a passenger so I was probably a 14.7-14.8 truck. He also had a passenger not sure on fuel. We will be going to the track June 9th. He gonna be getting a livernois tune that looks pretty badass. It +70rwhp +90rwtq and only 1.5 more psi. I will keep you all updated. The vid is from the 40 roll I know it sucks lol. I get more during the day soon!

awesome. knowing your a crew cab. and im reg cab i can be safe to say shouldnt have any problem beating them thanks for this. stock for stock of course. except intake and exhaust.

So from 40 did you have the truck in Drive or maybe 2nd gear? Probably just a dead spot as far as the gear for you and a sweet spot for him. If you were in D you would have downshifted to 3rd or 2nd prime(1.5 ratio) and would have been better with 2nd gear selected (1.67 ) manually. That is a kick ass color on your truck by the way, kinda like the old Super Bee's were painted!

How about just supercharging your 5.7 so it'd be forced induc against forced induc? Its nice knowing our stock naturally asperated hemi can hang with a forced induction engine. I know its a bunch of money going that route so maybe a 100 shot NO2 might do the trick.

#39 · (Edited)
It is not just just forced induction that gives the Ecoboost it's power numbers. It is also it's common rail high pressure direct injection (like the Cummins 5.9 has) and it's 2000 psi fuel pressure tha has a lot to do with why the engine gets it's peak torque of 420 ft-lb at a very low (for a gasser) 2,500 RPMS and keeps it there. Look at the 2JZ-FSE 3.0L engines they put in the Toyota Supra's. It is common to easily and reliably get 500, 750, or even 1000+hp out of those little 3.0L direct injection engines with just bigger turbos, bigger intercooler, better fuel, and a tune to make it work because the fuel system could already support it. If their is enough of these engines out their (and it is looking like there will be) then the aftermarket world will deffinetly follow with bigger inexpensive turbos and intercoolers. Even though it is a given to upgrade the injectors and fuel pump when installing a $6000 Supercharger kit on a Hemi, you will probably never even get close to 2000 psi let alone even 100psi with a port injected engine. So don't just say it is forced induction because it ain't.
