Default Early V10 performance upgrades.

I have a 94 dodge V10 that I am doing performance upgrades on. I talked to Dan at fastman about a TB. He recommended a 52mm over a 53mm, saying a 53mm was too big. Anyone running a 53mm? I had planned to install a cam or rockers as well. Dan said the 94-95's wouldn't work well with a cam change. Anyone know about that, also what about running higher ratio rockers? Thanks!

Not a whole lot of the big truck 10's running around. Might be saying it won't work well for a cam change because of tunability (or lack thereof). Can your PCM be custom tuned?

Is it differently calibrated enough to handle a cam change? Can it be flashed, or you might have to take a stock one to be sent out for a custom flash.

Can't be flashed, but the MP unit should easily handle a nice cam upgrade. MP offered one, might still be around.
p4876060, and list the suggested valve springs as being the stockers, though I believe I'd use new ones. This cam has a gross lift of .485". Stock is .390" intake, .407" exhaust. If you were to go to a higher ratio rocker with that cam, you'd need better springs, and you'd probably run into valve stem guide clearance issues (lift would be .515"), which would be fixed by having the guides cut back for clearance. That's a lotta work unless you're pulling the heads anyway. It'd also totally be mis-matched to the stock intake manifold. I'd just hang with the stock rockers for now. You could also probably get a cam reground if you can't get an MP unit. I don't think the 53mm TB would be too big if you're cammed up. Also, your compression ratio is only 8.4 to one. Great for towing, especially with regular gas, but if you want more power, bump it up a point. Dig around online. You may find some intake manifold mods as well.

I was thinking of running either rockers or a cam, but not both together. More likely rockers since I already have a nice set and that will be less work to install. I would like to bump up the compression ratio in the future, but that would involve more work than I currently want to do right now on my truck.

Stepping up a notch on rockers would give you a profile similar to the 5.2 Magnum, and would definitely perk up that V10. Your stock springs would be fine with that. That's a nice shade-tree weekend job.

Make sure you have the correct stud size for your new rockers. You have 2 choices with the v10 magnum
