what is the actual gas mileage on the new sport because they never get what they claim . i was thinking about buying a 2011 ram sport very nice looking trucks!!!!
I am currently averaging 14mpg, city or highway(70mph). If I drive 55mph on the highway I can get 18mpg. Have yet to drive in a temp above 30*F. Even at 14mpg, it gets the same economy than my old v6 Dakota.
Jay's nailed it. Mileage is the inverse function of the right foot position. More foot = less mileage. This is NOT a function of the Sport. All Ram trucks operate in the inverse function mode.
Additional Ram math facts -
Low mileage = More Fun
High mileage = Boring
Hemi; Mileage; Fun ..... Pick any 2!
When I'm bored, I get ~22mpg on the highway. I don't get bored often
It's funny you say that . My SRT8 car has got what they say it should get maybe even better . 14 in town 23 on the open road at 75-85 with air on . Not bad for a 4200 lb car with two passengers and 425 hp .
I have a 2011 sport with 3.92 rear gear ratio. I drive 47 miles one way to work 75 percent hwy. I get 18 miles to the gallon. I use cruise control whenever I can about 67 miles an hour. I have seen 21.5mpg on a straight hwy set at 72mph for 200 miles. But if you drive a lot of city or step on it forget about it! Gas mileage will tank. Just had a bed cover, magnaflow muffler and a aFe cold air intake put on and I am going to switch to synthetic oil first change so maybe mileage will increase alittle. I love this truck though! It is like a truck and a muscle car in one with the hemi!
I've read and have been told that my Ram will get the same mileage as my Dakota with the V6. The old Dak runs around 15 -16 in the city and anywhere from 18 - 23 on the highway with an average of 17 - 18 combination city hwy miles. The exciting part is that I will have twice the truck with 10x the horsepower but the same mileage as a mid size pick up. I don't really dwell on the mileage factor when owning a truck. I buy vehicles to fit my lifestyle and lower gas mileage is one of the conditions of having the versatility of owning a pickup.
Anyone know why the EPA ratings on the 2011 is 1mpg higher than the 2010s? And if it actually does get better economy?
I have a 2010 QC Sport 4x4 with about 2500 miles on it and so far I am averaging right at 16mpg. I'd do better if I didnt have to sit in line getting on base in the morning. I am happy with that since thats what I got out of my 07 GMC that I traded in and I have a little bit more power than that 5.3.
