x2 on my thoughts...i had choice of the Sport (i bought) and a Laramie with same options (both black)..when parked next to each other I just couldn't wrap my head around the chrome on the Laramie (nice truck but not my tastes). I dont like the little chrome on my sport but that's what they all come with nowadays..........just give me BLACK accents:4-dontknow:
Yeah I would just buy a whole new grille if I were you. You can get the black with the black honeycomb inserts for $200 from the mopar vendor. Then sell yours out right.
It's not hard to change. It's 4 bolts to take the grille off, and then it's just a matter of popping out about 20 tabs to take the insert out. You'd probably be looking at an hour or so all together.
My black sport came with the horizontal chrome grille as well, luckily I found a black honeycomb on a local classifieds site for $35! :smiley_thumbs_up:
I'm waiting on my Black Sport to arrive. Its just been cleared for shipment.
Looks like i'll be in the same boat. I wasnt aware the Sport came with Chrome inserts. My dealer didnt have a black sport on the lot. I chose the Sport for the monotone paint, and I'm not a huge fan of chrome. Plus the Sport is friggin awesome!!
I wanted to upgrade my black honeycomb to the chrome honeycomb, but you've convinced me the black is worth keeping. Thanks you just saved me $200.
I just finished swapping my chrome horizontal grill insert for a black honeycomb one. I posted an add on my local Kijjii and had a few replies in under a week. The install wasnt that bad either.. except for the two dozen little clips holding the insert to the grill shell.
Im not too big on chrome either.. several different companies make the "big mouth" grilles. They have a few options on finishes and honeycomb, horizontal billet, etc. I went with RBP on mine and am pretty pleased with it, but it was rather pricey..
Do Not paint them!!! I tired that and a few weeks went by before the chrome started showing through. A rattle can is a quick fix and if you have a lot of time on your hands ....well you make your own decision.

Hate to hear that for you. What paint did you use? Several things on my truck have been plasti dipped and are holding up great! The grille has been done since March and has about 8-9k miles on it and is holding up just fine. The grille gets hand washed and pressure washed just like any other part of the truck
Yeah Rayne, that looks way sharp. If I had a black truck thats exactly what I'd do. I have had 3 black dodge trucks in the past and all are sharp, Love the black, just a bitch to keep clean, lol. Besides I was ready for a change and fell in love with the Deep Cherry Red, almost bought another black one though.
Also, the plastic dip method works quite well for those that want the cheap fix, might be a pain in the a$$ doing the honeycomb though..
I say keep your eye out at the wreckers I just located a complete grill for 80 bucks. Planing on swapping out the chrome slats for the black honeycomb early next week.
