Default Why a V10

Many years ago I had a new 1995 3/4 ton 4x4 360. Loved that truck but pretty under powered for towing. Have owned two other 1/2 ton 4x4 Dodge trucks. A 1985 new and a 2006 new. All treated me well with hard use. We purchased a 30 foot fifth wheel last spring and I needed a truck to pull it. I found a 1998 1 ton, 4x4, quad cab dually with 38,000 original miles. Super clean truck. Loaded SST Sport package. It had pulled an off shore race boat most of its life in south Florida. Looks as if it spent a lot of time parked inside. I did the typical cracked dash repair,CAI install, planning on a muffler change and duels. This truck drives like new. It felt like it wanted to wander a bit so I installed a steering box stabilizer, had front end aligned which wasent out but a little and a new set of BFG tires on the front. Drives perfect now to me anyway. I tow my 13,000 lb 5th wheel down the highway at 65 or 70 mph and the truck just don't care. Rides better with the load. I,m interested in any way to improve mpg of course but no load 13 mpg highway, loaded 7 mpg. I'm planning on running this old truck for 4 or 5 years then buying a Cummins. No complaints with the V10. No payments will buy lots of fuel.

I remember when the second gen trucks came out and I thought it was the coolest truck ever, with it's baby-big-rig front end styling. And I just think these are from a bygone era. When trucks were real trucks. These trucks didn't compromise capability for economy. The idea of having all that displacement has a unique appeal. They were capable, practical and brutish. Not like now, with the ridiculous mall crawler luxury trucks that are too glitzy and complex for my liking. I like things that are plainly mechanical. When I look under the hood I want to see mechanisms, not a plastic cover. When I move a climate control switch, I want to feel the switch actually engaging a mechanism not sending an electrical signal.

Hi I'm new to forum but not new to the 2nd Gens. At the time Ford and Chevy big blocks couldn't touch the V10 Dodge. I actually ordered a new 2001 V10 4x4 5-speed red of course like the Twister truck. I had it till 2004 when I traded it for a cummins. I actually started to miss the truck a short time later. Anyway it just so happened that my step dad Pete also ordered a new V10 Dodge but it was back in 1997. I told him when he was ready to sell it let me know. Long story short I purchased it from him in 2010 with 62,000 original miles on it. I just finished a frame up restoration on it back in May.

Just bought my 1995 1 month ago because the '92 250 would not do the work we have planned for the future.

My son is a Mechanic at a Ford dealership so he brought home some used F350 turbo diesels and I was impressed with how smooth they drove and steered even the 4X4 with leaf spring front axle.

One of the older Mechanics said look at the V 10 gasser as it's simple, has lots of power and the newer diesel parts, like injectors, are so expensive because many parts you can only get through the dealer. Never thought about the Dodge until this and my son found one.

Well we bought this one and it has the NV4500 which makes me love it just a little bit more. I've always wanted a big truck for 30 years, now I've got a bad ass one!

I've had an 06 Viper Convertible for a few years and figured "how cool would it be" to have a Truck with the same Powertrain!
