So, I want to debadge my truck but I've had it for a little over a year now and am worried about the paint being faded. I don't have a garage so it's always outside. I'm most worried about removing the big Outdoorsman decal and being able to the tell the difference between the exposed paint and the paint coved by the decal.
Any idea how big of a concern this is? I'm not really sure how much paint fades after one year?
I just had my 3 year plus old emblems removed, but there was also some color matching painting done, i don't know just where the color matching was done, it was mostly on the fenders & hood
everyone has said that they removed them, did a bit of clean up, maybe some buffing & waxing, anything that may have been off color will fade in with time
Good deal, figured I'd probably be okay after only one year. I'm not to concerned with the smaller badges, but that Outdoorsman decal takes up a good amount of real estate...
The only badges I took off were the "1500" on both doors. THAT I thought was too much for the front doors.....all the others I kept cause I really like em.
I debadged my old 2003 Ram (Graphite Metallic) back in 2010 and there where no issues at all. Just a good polish and wax and it was perfect!....kept out doors as well.
I guess we're in the minority as I like em too. I just added a HEMI badge (matches the fender badge) to the bottom right corner of my tailgate. It offsets the Big Horn badge that is on the left side. I do agree that the RAM 1500 badges make it more difficult to wax around but I like how the chrome looks against the bright white color of my truck.
To me, I think there are two schools of thought on debadging - if you have an Express or Sport where the bumpers & grill match the body color, then yes - debadging works. If you have a chrome grill and bumpers, I rather like the little xtra chrome the badging brings with it.
Here's a pic of my tailgate with the Hemi badge added to the bottom right.
Hey Marine...i just debadged....the adhesive underneath...pull up and out on it and it came right off for me. looks worse than it is...piece of cake dude
