not to restore old post, but from what i remember the OEM plugs are a NGK plug, atleast the intake.

I just bought the truck and it was neglected, (bought from dealer, 2013 w/ 42k miles) but i bought a 3/8th socket and used a table grinder and it worked magically, took about 5 min of grinding. Anywho i pulled the intake plug 1 out and it looked fine so i put just 1 new one in because of the crush washer.

I think there NGK

When should i service both Upper and lower. Or intake and exhaust?

i do not know if they were OEM or been done at 30k the dealer service man wouldnt print out the service records for me.

What is the purpose of 16 plugs

Like hornet said, there are several posts about the 08 and newer 4.7L spark plugs. OEM are bosch on both the intake and exhaust side (not NGK). They are two different part numbers though (see owners manual). You can use the exhaust plug in the intake side as well though for longer life but they are more expensive. I'm running the exhaust plug (iridium) in both sides now so I don't have to change the intakes as often.

The purpose of dual plugs is for power, emissions, economy.
