If I am reading your post right you have a 5.7, 4WD, 3.92 rear end, QC. With that combo, you shouldn't bother with any wiring mods. Your gears are just too low and the weight too much to try to get 18mpg. The key reason I can get even the advertised mpg with the cable mod is that my truck is 2WD, weighs 4750 dry, and has the 3.6 with 3.21 gears. Ram makes so many combinations that its impossible to get the advertised mpg on many, maybe most of them. I think a new regular cab, short bed, 5.7, with 3.21 gears and 2WD could get around 20mpg on the highway at 65mph. All the other 5.7, its doubtful.

.7mpg in a truck averaging around 20mpg is a 3.5% improvement. I don't call that negligible. It will save you around $700 in fuel cost if you go 100k miles.

I very much doubt Dodge is using small guage wires to save weight. More like saving the cost of copper.

doubt dodge would save on the cost of copper for a 3.5% increase in mpg to help cafe standards.

Agree. Which makes me think the improvement may be from something else. It is damnably difficult to verify these small improvements.

Hi all,

I ordered a 0awg big 3 upgrade kit and plan to just run the new cable over the existing cables. I've followed and mapped out in my head where I'll be running cable but I'm having trouble finding where the engine block is grounded or where I could just add my own ground. Some help to either of these locations would help out a ton!

Take a look at your altenator mount,should be a bolt on it that'll work good for an engine ground.

on the front of the heads/block I used a empty threaded hole to bolt a ground cable to.
