and it doesn't look like he has insurance. Here is the damage: Tail light needs replaced, dent below light, bumper needs new paint(I think its straight), and plastic top for bumper needs replaced. Any input on what this will cost? Good place to order factory parts? Out for quotes tomorrow.

Ouch, the tail light won't be much.. but the spot where you got the dent is a very annoying location, right at the bend, so that and painting the whole bumper will be the pricey part... Previous driver of my truck backed it into something .. dented the corner and made it crooked.. most annoying thing in the world.. Just found out to that my work was going to pay for all body repairs from his mistakes.. pocketed the cash instead.

I wonder if a good PDR man could massage that dent out from under the light?

My 130 lb dog put a big dent on the front part right side of my bed when I first adopted him. I shot him after that...just kidding but I wanted to, lol. I thought I had him tied tight enough to where he could not reach the side but my knot slipped and the rope stretched and off the side he went. Hanging there smashing up against the side of my bed. I picked him up and held him while my son removed his collar. It was a soccerball size dent with a couple of claw dents and I'm not kidding. I could see three or four sharp dents from his claws today. I fixed the dent without any bondo or body work. But man....that part of the bed feels like 16 gauge steel. I could barely budge it. The very front side of the bed half way up the side. I used a heavy duty suction tool to pull it out along with a peice of wood I modified to fit inside the inner side wall to use as a pry bar. Even with my makeshift prybar and suction tool together it didn't want to budge, it took for ever. I jsut wanted to say to everyone, your bed is built much thicker and stonger that you think. It's nothing like our cheezy door skin.

That's what I was thinking. I would rather have that done than it smeared with Bondo but that's just me.

Well I finally had my truck repaired in July. Then today I took my truck to the dealer to have a tire sensor replaced and while they had it some Canadians towing a trailer into the dealer sideswiped the truck damaging the other side. At least they have insurance. I left the truck at the dealership and they gave me a crummy impala for a rental. Its always something.

The slightest dent in the bumper he gets a new one if he so desires. I think bumper and a tail light alone could be about 800 parts and labor. Then they'll have to paint the whole side of the bed after the repair and that's going to be another 800 at the least. Could be about 1600 in damage all together...maybe more. When I first bought My (RCSB Hemi/3.92 LSD) truck it had gray ST plain bumpers and single exhaust. I had the bumpers relpaced with plain chrome front real duals no fogs and labor and material was 1200 plus at the dealer. I might have got took but I had the money to burn and didn't care. I paid the dealer to do it for me in order for them to put the change on the serial/vin number. I installed an AFE exhaust myself. I still have my plain jane gray bumpers and stock single exhaust.

There is no way in HELL he gets a new bumper. That little dent if any. I didnt pull those prices out of my rear. That is estimate # 4753. I wrote everyone of them in the last 5 years. I know just a little about how things work. And not to bash your other post ,but the bedside is not much if any thicker sheet metal than the door or fender. Its all thin. A stud gun would make quick work on his dent or just pull the tail light and work it like that.

OP That estimate is written on a Mitchell estimate system. Used by 75+% of all insurance companies. Turn it in on your policy pay your deductible. You can get a claim against him for that in small claims court.

That or wait until he goes on vacation jump his fence and turn his outside water hydrant on. :)

Hi Will, are you talking about the first damage? I believe it was repaired at a quote of 1020 or around there. Did not cost me anything as the neighbor covered the expense. The second incident at the dealership they actually told me that the it will be getting a new bed side, bumper, and taillight. It creased in weird places and I like the idea of new versus repair. Their insurance will pay for this.

yes, needed a replacement bed skin
it involved the crease/body fold & only a body shop could cover that & make it look sort of decent
so they grind down the seam welds & replace the whole outside skin
then repaint the bed so the paint matches, if the vehicle is older, they do a paint blend, mostly it covers most of the difference between older & newer paint

They can do miracles with door skins and bed skins. They have can openers, air chisels, rollers to roll the skin back on, spot welders, and seam glue to make it look brand new from the factory. It's not that they couldn't fix the dent, I think it's just cheaper to replace the skin vs the hrs to repair it not to mention sometimes it's you the owners choice or if it's new or you pay extra. They will probally have to replace your bed rail cap as well. They usually dont snap down and hold well the second time around. I repaired my dent in my truck un noticed and I repaired my sons 02 Chevy work truck soon after. I did both sides of his bed around the tires around a two foot long section caved in and smashed from trailer jack knives with a small single axle trailer. And each side close to the doors and on the doors and on the hood by the drivers hinge. He owns a lawn service and beats his truck to death. I worked the dents out the first day and grinded to a minimum of 0 to 1/8" fill in the creases only. It was pretty bad but it came out nice. The next day I did the bondo using less than a quart with half of that shaved and sanded and primed. His truck is white so we used white primer and it came out super nice. All said, I've owned several Chevy trucks and I always thought they were stonger skinned because on my 09 Ram always getting new dents somewhere unlike my Chevys. That was until I tried to get my dent out from my dog. Beleive me when I tell you, these trucks bed skins are stronger then we give it credit for. Could be why these guys didn't attempt to repair the dents. I removed my fenders to work in my engine bay and they are nothing like the bed skins. They are ultra light and feather weight thin.

Im cool if you are I got a little touchy there sorry.

I had to run off a free loading relative that has been sucking my mom dry.

The police had to escort him away. Funny thing my wife's car gets keyed the next night. I was in a bad mood. Still am I have to take them a estimate tonight.

He is fixing to learn never screw with a guy who's best friends are all in law enforcement. :)

It's just flat out shady if a man doesn't have insurance, and even more so if he refuses to pay for the damages to your vehicle. I know for a fact I wouldn't be okay with it. Something would have to happen.
