13's are getting few and far between, even more so a '13 sport with the 6 speed. I would say go 8 speed, it is a better trans than any of those before it. If you can find a deep discounted 13 go for it, otherwise you are most likely looking at a 14. Not really any major changes from 13 to 14.
Good deal, if you found 13's that fit your needs I would pull the trigger pretty quick before they are gone. You should be able to get a killer deal given it s "last years" model.
I don't think there are a lot of differences between a 2013 and '14 model. A friend has a 2014 and other than the 8 speed transmission and the sensors in the front bumper we haven't found any significant differences. You can save some $$$$ money if you can find what you want in a 2013. I got my 2013 Longhorn for near $10K savings.
i tried for a 13 too just because i did not want the 8 speed tranny and that silly dial selector.
it was hard to find one, but when i finally did, the same truck was cheaper in a 14. the 13's didn't have as large of incentives, and i ended up it would have been more for the same 13 model.
i bit the bullet and ordered the 14. that freaking shift selector is going to kill me tho! lol
Traded a 2011 for a 2014 and love it. Down shifts are virtually undetectable and love the 8 speed. Just drove 1,050 miles and averaged 70 mph and 21 mpg. Getting used to the knob and use the extra room on the console. The air ride was very helpful the last several months as my wife shattered her knee cap and left wrist. Makes entry and exit quite nice.
I love the 8 speed. Yeah, the 8-4 shift can be abrupt. My attitude is that it's a rare occurance. Other than that, this tranny is silk, and damned efficient. I even like the knob shifter, even tho I'm still reaching for the column shift LOL. This truck is everything my 2012 wasn't. The 6 (5 speed) tranny is ancient, and it feels like it.
