Anyone drive a 2014 with the new projector headlights?
How do the look to you? Are they noticeably brighter than the crappy standard headlights? Still weak or adequate? What color, how white does the light look to you?
My other vehicle has Bi Xenon blazing white headlights which I rely on for safe night driving.
I wonder if there is a plug n play Xenon/ HID headlight upgrade available?

I'm sorry to say they stink. Still weak and yellowish. Not worthy of being mentioned in the same sentence as xenons. One of the only dissappointments on my Limited. Unfortunately, I am all thumbs with electrical stuff and therefore cannot switch them to HIDs as some have. Funny thing is, they have such potential, being projector equipped. All show and no go...
Too bad. I too had heard that projector beams on other brands stink on ice. What the heck is wrong with the truck makers? They MUST know the projector lights are tragic. That youtube video shows it all.
I have to have HDI lights and will look around for substitute lights now. I live in a remote, desolate, dark area near Area 51 and must have ample lights. I definitely don't want to run into or over any aliens.
I don't think projectors are inherently the issue. It's projectors that aren't coupled with HID lamps. I'm guessing the kit shown in the video above was applied to the existing projectors with apparently excellent results.
The projectors in the 13/14 headlights convert very nicely over to HID, they have a decent cut-off and decent focus. You can get away with a plug and pray kit if you run error cancelers or anti flicker modules. The ideal setup is to run true HID projectors retro'd into the housings with HID kits that are wired in with relays direct to the battery and grounded to the frame.
Line up the headlights as vehicles have progressed from the old sealed beam to the standard halogens to these projectors and you will see a pretty big difference. Are they in the same class as HID? No. But they don't carry the same price tag as they do either. The feds only allow so much creativity when it comes to the design of headlamps.
I'll be using Retro Shop to update lights on my '14 sport to HID as well. I've been driving an Infiniti with HID's for the past few years and every time I drive something else I am appalled at how poor the headlight performance is. Even my girlfriends 2013 Acura RDX with halogen projectors is terrible by comparison.
