I've had my crew cab 2011 sport for about 6 months and have never had a problem with road noise, in fact it has been exceptionally quiet. Yesterday I was driving home from an Easter celebration into the wind on the highway, going probably about 75 and there was semi-quiet high pitched buzz/howl (not sure how else to describe it). The wind was probably blowing into me at 30mph, but i'm pretty sure here in Oklahoma that has happened before and I didn't get this noise.
As far as I could tell it seemed to be coming from somewhere on the front of the cabin. Could have been a window, could have been through the air vents, I couldn't pin it down.
Has anybody else had this problem? I'm affraid if I take it into the dealership they won't be able to re-create the problem due to the weather conditions not being the same.
There is a tsb or rrt for this. They glue a piece of foam into your door strip gasket to stop the noise. Pretty lame fix for what we paid for these trucks.
I've had this RRT done....twice and still get the whistle in a crosswind. Has to be a pretty nasty crosswind for it to happen though and it certainly isn't consistent.
I get it too and have noticed that if I barely lower the window just a hair it goes away, not enough to notice that the window is lowered. It doesn't happen all the time though, weird.
Same here - every time I run west out to Buffalo across 90, and there's a cross wind, I get that howl. Like others, I haven't felt it was important enough to take it in and have the dealer glue a piece of foam on my truck. Lame fix in my opinion. So, I've lived with it.
