I'm not very mechanically inclined but I seem to have a ticking sound from the engine. I have a 05 ram 4.7. I thought it might be the exhaust manifold but I don't seem to have any leaks. I used a piece of wood and held up 2my ear and then to these tubes I can hear a knocking / ticking sound from these tubes. I guess it could be a lifter but it seems to be louder from these tubes. The sound seems to always be there if you listen closly but more so when cold. Please help! What are these silver tubes.

I have the same engine as you do, Hoosier. The only silver tubes even close to the valve covers is the fuel rail. I'm thinking your ticking noise is a lifter, it's just being amplified through the fuel rail.
