I am preparing to replace my dome bulbs with red LED bulbs due to the flickering driver's map light.
My question - I have read that some are having the overhead console replaced due to these flickering bulbs? I'm thinking that it is probably just a bulb replacement issue - am I wrong. I don't want to deal with the dealership if at all possible. - (Overly aggressive A-type personality with no patience for BS!)
Thanks for any help!
The LED map light is not replaceable. The console has to be replaced. Unless you want to break out the soldering iron and kiss the warranty goodbye on your console, it would be best to let the dealer replace it under warranty. Taking a video of it with my phone helped since mine wouldn't always act up. The first time I brought it in for the issue they couldn't find anything wrong. It took the video to get them to look further.
I thought it would be just plug and play, take the white ones out and put the red ones in. Rather disappointed. Thanks for the input, I'm going to have to debate over this for sure. Maybe I can find a tutorial on the replacement process if I go that route.
Just had the same issue. Dealer replaced the entire overhead console which a
has map lites, dome lites, garage door buttons, rear window switch, sunroof switch due to the bulbs being non-serviceable in the map lites.
Probably a very expensive part. Good Luck with your dealer.
My driver's side light dims and flickers. I've had the console off and poked and prodded parts of it but I can't figure out how to make it stop flickering. Warranty will fix it for me when I get a chance to take it in.
are you talking about the map light or the dim ambient light? I replaced both the map lights, the under dash lights and the rear cabin light with blue LED models.
I was having this problem since day 1. Took mine apart and swapped the LEDs out. If anyone is interested I could do theirs for them or give them some pointers. If theres enough interest ill make a thread about it. Overall wasnt too hard and looks factory again, except brighter and works 100% of the time!
(I am referring to the over head map lights that are included in the LED package)
im bringing mine to the dealer tomorrow to get fixed, my interior Stock LED's are flickering so bad it looks like a god damn disco whore house inside my truck lol
