Hello forum members,

In response to a PM that I received today from a member:

I know that I have this information in several threads, but I can't remember which ones. So I'm going to start a thread with the 2011 Uconnect SW update.
This is the update that has been out since June of 2011. It's for 2011 vehicles that were built prior to 6-1-2011 and have one of the radios (RES, REQ, RBZ & RHB) ONLY. It is not for the Harman radios (RER, RHR).
This update will fix the "error occurred" that is displayed when connecting an iPod or IPhone to the docking cable. It will also fix the choppy audio when streaming audio thru BT.

Here are the instructions:
Make sure that you DO NOT have any power interruptions during the update, for best results have the motor running so there are no interruptions).
You will need at least a 2 GB thumb drive. If you have files on the thumb drive, please delete them and format the drive (to FAT32) just to make sure that it is completely clean.
Download it to the thumb drive that has no other files on it. Turn the radio on, Place the thumb drive in the center console USB connector (on vehicles with the dealer installed unit, it should be in the glove box), press and hold the Uconnect button for about 12 - 15 seconds, you should here "update started". This process should take about 15 - 20 minutes; there will be some beeps during the process. Please listen during the update for any error message that may be said by Uconnect. When the update is completed, the radio screen will go back to a radio display. Turn the ignition off, open & close the driver’s door. Wait about 1 minute, then turn the key on and test the system.

And here is the file location:
uconnect.upd

Part 2
I’m also going to add this update here for members that have just applied the above update. You will notice that the Bluetooth streaming audio sound quality is not so great. After you have applied the above update then (and only then) apply this update the same way that you did the one above. Go to my thread link below and see post # 23 for the file link.

Thanks xsdbs for your information.
I first tried to pair my Galaxy S3 with no SW upgrade, but it did not work.
I then did all as indicated, but I was not lucky. During the SW update it said it is not for this "article" (means unit, as the language is set in French).
I had to plug the thumb in the USB port in the glove box. It didn't work in the center console one. So may be it's a dealer installed unit. Remember my truck is an Export vehicle, built Feb 2011.
Bellow some details of the system:
Application: 09.00.02
AUDIO CPU: 081910
Gracenote: B90
System: 0201
There is also a serial number available that I did not post here.

Any other solution to help me upgrade my 430N RBZ would be welcome.
Many thanks in advance. Denis.

Denis, can you post a picture of your Uconnect module? If it is factory installed, you will need to drop the glovebox down toward the floor, look inside the cavity to the far right side of the dash structure. There should be a 4"x6" black module mounted there. Thanks

I will need to look into this but I don't think it would matter.

Tried the update. Followed the instructions above. When i press the uconnect phone button it says to attach update mass storage and try again. Tried this several times.- Cheers
What is the build date of the vehicle?

Well if you tried it before, did you get the same prompt that you're getting now? If not, then what are the current issues? Can you play music from an iPod / iPhone with the docking cable? If not what error message do you see on the radio screen?
Can you stream music from the phone using BT? If not what does it sound like?

Build date is December 2012. I am able to play music from my ipod, always have been able to. My issue is that i am unable to stream from iphone until the iphone screen goes black. I get the fast forward sound when i first plug it in. After the iphone screen goes black, it plays fine. - Thank you

Ok, would you mind trying something for me?
I would like you to download the file mentioned in the 1st posting in this thread.
After you DL it, put it on your thumb drive, then. copy it again so that you have 2 files on the thumb drive:
uconnect.upd
uconnect.upn
--------------------------------------------------

Now rename the 2nd file to .upn so that the files look like:

uconnect.upd
uconnect.upn
------------------------------------------------------------
Please try the thumb drive in the vehicle again. After we get this update to take, then you'll want to do the 2nd update for the streaming audio sound quality that I have at the bottom of the 1st post in this thread.

Hey guys,

I seem to be having the same issue with my 2013 Dodge that has Uconnect. It keeps flashing on my screen "please insert update USB" and I also took it to the dealer and they were of no help an said that its a wiring issue. I was wondering if anyone could help me with getting the update downloaded? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

Chad

There are 3 different suppliers for the uconnect system. This particular update is not for the 2013 Uconnect system in your truck.
Unfortunately, it doesn't appear that Dodge get a very good job at Validating this system before releasing it to be built into the vehicles.

201 RHB Update

There's not been an update since? My GPS told me it was over a year old and to get an update...the speed limits have increased here in Ohio...incredible!

#20 ·
ok, just to clear up a little confusion. With the RES, REQ, RBZ & RHB radios, there is an external Uconnect module. The radio and Uconnect each have separate SW updates. This particular update is for the Uconnect module and has nothing to do with the radio. There are newer SW versions for the radio depending on which version that you currently have on the radio. Can you tell me which version you have now?

430N RHB Software Upgrade v50.00.07 ISO

Hey guys

I thought I could help out and share the August 2013 v50 upgrade for the 430N (RHB).

I received my disc in the mail last week and decided to make an ISO for the Jeep and Ram community.

You can download the file from this link
https://app.box.com/s/nrspftiq7dmgmegcsga0

I have a 2012 Ram Sport with the 430N and received the incorrect disc in the mail which downgraded my system from v43 to v33 with the ugly blue backgrounds. Many searches and calls to Uconnect later I got the disc and all is good!

Good luck!

Good luck with this Chad; hope you get a solution; I have the exact problem with my new ram 3 weeks after purchase; have been back to the dealer 3 times, lastest 3 days ago, repeated problem yesterday; have talked extensively to Chrysler customer help desk; I don't think they have a clue what the problem is--this also kills my battery 'cause it will not shut off when I turn off the truck--will keep watching for your results-

Nanny911,
This thread may not be much help to you. Chrysler has 3 different suppliers for the Uconnect system, this is because of the different radio MFG's they have. The radios that are supported with this particular thread are the : REQ, RES, RBZ & RHB. The 2013 vehicles have a completely different radio system in it and I have seen several unhappy owners / members on this forum. You may need to dig more into the threads and find one for the 2013.

I recently purchased my 2011 RAM used. build date 01/2011. Alpine Radio PHP.

I actually found this thread searching for information in regards to pairing an Iphone. For the life of me I could not complete the prompts to pair the phone. The original firmware prompts are horrendous. It would ask is this correct? I would say "CORRECT" and the prompts would continue, until the pin code and then it would fail. After a couple hours, I tried saying "YES" this completed the prompts and I was able to pair the phone. I then discovered the poor audio quality the unconnect system offered.I then remembered this thread!

At any rate i downloaded the file on the first post and followed the instructions to a tee. The first Firmware was uploaded in about 15 mins. I then followed the link to post 23 and downloaded that file for the bit rate fix.

Both updates worked flawless, thank you for supplying these files and knowledge.

My next "hack" is to fix the the DVD player to operate while the vehicle is in drive.... Different system I will need to investigate that Tech.

Thanks AGAIN!

I see it's been a few years since this thread has been active. I just purchased a 2011 Ram Sport and have the exact same but rate issue. I have done the V50 update and was wondering how I could find out if the required tsb was done so I could flash the bit rate update....any info or help would be appreciated, it is really bad using Bluetooth.. Thanks in advance!

I cannot get my phone to pair.

Picked up a new Iphone 7plus (insurance replacement) phone is same model as previous successfully paired device.
Bluetooth works normally with all my other bluetooth devices.
I get to the prompt after setting a pin and uconnect says to finish pairing on device.

Iphone sees unconnect and I'm able to select uconnect and punch in the pin. After that iphone death wheels and sometimes crashes bluetooth.

Not sure what to make of it.

Another issue is when the uconnect phone button is pushed to begin, It sometimes does not give the voice prompts and instead says connect usb update device.

I'm half tempted to re-install the latest uconnect software because it would appear the unconnect software is corrupted.

I'll let you know what happens.

Recently purchased a 2011 Ram With Uconnect and the Bluetooth does not find my iPhone 8. Is this part of the Pairing issues of having the update? Should I attempt to follow the directions first (or) is there something else with the Bluetooth not syncing/finding my iPhone.

Thanks.

I’m also going to add this update here for members that have just applied the above update. You will notice that the Bluetooth streaming audio sound quality is not so great. After you have applied the above update then (and only then) apply this update the same way that you did the one above. Go to my thread link below and see post # 23 for the file link.
May be a dumb question but wich one is the uconnect button u hold for 15 sec

This is an older thread, you may not receive a response, and could be reviving an old thread. Please consider creating a new thread.
