EVO got a Spankin'

For the last six months I've left my subdivision about the same time as a built up Mits EVO
I can hear that he's definitely tuned fartin and sputtering at WOT with huge dual ricer Fart Cans pointing up
and the smell of rich exhaust when he's idling at the light in front of me.

looked similar to this...
but pipes angled up almost to the white paint level

front end similar to this

We end up single lane bumper to bumper 2 or 3 times a month as we approach the nearest highway on-ramp.

Seems we take turns playing follow the leader to see who can pull away the fastest
...and he's usually right on my rear bumper when I'm in front.

But I can also hang on his rear bumper when he tries to pull on me
...drafting behind him is a huge benefit for my 5200lb brick.

Well this morning was the first time we met up again in over a month
...only this time I have an extra 170 HP surprise under my hood
a Ripp Supercharger installed on the weekend.

So just after 6:00 am I was waiting at the light watching my rear view mirror
and sure enough he turned the corner and pulled in behind me ...

:hah: so now I'm as giddy as a little school girl waiting at the light

Light turns green and make the left turn slowly and wait for him to do the same ...but then Hammer Time and I'm Gone!
He's trying hard to catch me but there is no way in he!! this time

I watch him slowly getting smaller and smaller in my rear view mirror as I motor down the on-ramp (about a quarter mile long).

I hammer on the brakes near the end so I could get down to the speed limit and merge into traffic.

Finally we have a "Significant" winner after 6 months of taunting each other.
:box:

If I ever get a chance to talk to him I'm going to invite him to the track for a real lesson
when I'm in track trim on my little 28" Drag Radials instead of 33" Grappler's/20's!

I Don't usually condone street racing, prefer to take it to the track, but this was not a side by side drag race,
no other traffic on a long merge lane in the early morning hours.

Just two drivers getting up to speed on an abandoned merge lane significantly "quicker" than most :shy:.

hahah that's awesome! Those built evos are no joke. I bet he was surprised as hell and is dying to know why your truck is so fast!

probably my favorite "kill" story by far on here

Oh it gets even Better!

I baited him on purpose, it was a Total setup

I installed my Ripp Supercharger license plate bracket several months ago
while waiting for my other parts to arrive. (spark plugs, water/meth kit, transmission etc.)

So the last few times he was on my rear bumper he was close enough to read it,
Totally lulled him into a false sense of security thinking he could run with a Supercharged Hemi no problem.
But little did he know it was not even on the truck yet, and still sitting in my basement patiently waiting for the eventual beat down
MHUUUHUUHUHAHHAAAA!!!!!

BTW, removed the Ripp plate holder just after I installed the supercharger and put my tinted one back on (ironically)

Hope he realizes it was only there for him to see ....SUCKER!!!

hahaahaahaha that's perfect!!!!

Dang! Very nice kill, evo's are no joke. Especially a tuned one ha. They're the only "ricer" type car id ever own. Along with an sti. You make me wish I had a 2wd regular cab :/ ha

Cant run all out just yet,

Desperate need of a new higher capacity fuel pump
Aeromotive Stealth 340 ordered through my CMR tuner yesterday

He said 500whp is way too much for a stock pump and he wouldn't even let me on the dyno
Specially after he saw my Bud's numbers when we dyno'd his Ripp'd Ram.

Threw my very first code this morning

right after I did this:

Code cleared right away and never came back,
at least it wasn't a Tranny code :158:

I still have install my Water/Meth kit too...

Wire my gauge pod...

and install the new L&M Custom transmission (and tuning for it) and a new ATS Triple Lok 3000 stall Torque Converter

i dont even know why i kept on reading. im so jealous now hahah.

love your truck. bring me for a ride? i wouldnt ask to drive bc i wouldnt let anyone drive mine lmfao
but if you offer on the other hand hahahah

^ what he said..
I'd even challenge you to a race, only because id be honored to be completely destroyed by you. Ha

I wouldn't consider that a ricer. Those are serious built 4 banger, turbocharged, AWD, rally cars. I mean if that guy put same money has the supercharger cost into his EVO he would be back in the game.

99% sure it was a GSR
...that starts at a bit over $46k in Canada
With the Black alloy wheel/suspension upgrade package

If by chance it was an MR...that would be $52k base price

both are 2.0L MIVEC I4 turbocharged / intercooled
291 hp @ 6,500 rpm, 300 lb.-ft. @ 4,000

http://www.mitsubishi-motors.ca/en/vehicles/lancer-evolution/2013/specs/

(my Ram was $36k over 3.5 years ago)

Just noticed, most of us referring to Asian built cars as ricers are 50+ years old,
guess slang terms have different meanings depending on what generation your'e from.

all in good fun though

main point is a slow ass truck can be made to run with the sports cars...

But "Made", not Bought!

and 100% built by my own hands

Ricers were called ricers long before most of you were born. At one time Americans still felt the affects of Pearl Harbor and didn't like the idea of having Japanese autos and bikes sold in America. Vietnam veterans and especially bikers gave Americans a piece of their mind about it. Patriots expressed their feelings and made statements, some like bikers by hanging and burning Jap bikes and destroying cars (ricers) for fun at exibitions. That's when and why the name ricer started, not because they were slow. Kids today that call them ricers have no idea where it came from and why. It's nothing to do with it looking like a fart can with a go wing.

My grandpa was in WW2 in the Pacific. My mom showed up at his house one day to show off her brand new car, a Honda Accord. He told her to park that piece of Japanese shit in the street because his buddies didn't die in the war for her to be able to park that piece of shit in his driveway and rub his nose in it. He never owned a Jap car in his life. Even if its assembled in America, the profits still go back overseas.

...just for the record, I dont have issue with Japanese built

I picked a Honda VTX for a cruiser almost 10 years ago, and still have it today
Despite a lot of harassment and taunting from the guys I ride with ( Group of 10, all Harley's )

I bought it because it was cheaper (half the price of a hog) faster and more reliable.
The money they had to spend on performance upgrades just to keep up with me
...I put into custom appearance mods so I would stand out among the rest of the sheep that all looked the same.

EVO's and WRX's are damn quick and AWD ...but "if" I wanted a fast Japanese car I'd go for a GT-R
....those are Bad Ass! 0-60 in under 2 seconds (with a few tweaks), but I'm 50 years old now...and its just not my style at this stage in my life

I actually prefer the more elegant British Aston Martin's for an "Older Gentlemans" sports car with a little more class

the Vantage V8 sounds soooo sweet too

Has anyone seen the new AM One 77 ? O-M-G! Sex on Wheels

People can say what they want but I've seen some pretty fast "ricers". The drag strip I go to has import day a couple of times a year. There are plenty of 8,9 and 10 second cars. An Evo is near the top of the food chain when modified correctly. That was an awesome kill! I can't wait until you get to talk to the guy to get his reaction.

That is what I was thinking too....
Now you have to stop and chat with him the next time

The funny thing meeting Sasha at the track , he approached me first, ( a couple years ago)
Said "I think I'm your neighbor, seen your Truck parked in front of your house the other day".

As soon as he introduced himself by name,
(Sasha's not a very common name for a guy)
I recognized him as a customer from several years ago

Turns out I designed/drafted the plans for his new home, and his over sized garage with enough height for a lift.
I work for a local home builder as a Architectural Tech/Structural Engineer and purchased one of our former Show Homes just down the street.

I often told him since I designed his home he owed me a Turbo build design for my truck...
He told me no problem, just drop it off at his garage and leave it with him for a week.

Curious....why did you not go with him for a build?
With my Ripp kit I can say I did the install 100% on my own with basic hand tools in my driveway
(complete with tuning for $4k)...pop my hood with pride and say "Look What I have Created!!!

He's more of an import specialist, and would be breaking new ground with a Hemi,
So I wasn't totally comfortable with being his first guinea pig and at the time I didn't know anyone locally who could tune it properly.
(although I do now)

He quoted me about $5k (without tuning) Dyno Tuning it would be another $1k

His Z kits are pretty famous North America wide,
very thorough and he is very meticulous when it comes to welding.

That's a good looking setup bud, been on the fence of getting a 4th gen for a while and haven't taken the leap yet, might wait till the 5th gens come out in a few years

oh and being an Afghanistan vet... I would act the same as my grandpa if anyone tries to park an Afghani mobile (donkey and cart) in my driveway.

Glad to see the supercharger is making noticeable power. I bet you leaned it out which set the code. Did you put larger injectors in the truck?

The lean code only came on when it was at idle, very strange, because my stoic reads 14.7
I think it was just one of those freak things, never came back again.

I have my WideBand/Boost gauges hooked up finally and it's actually running Rich,
under 8psi Boost I'm at mid 10's A/F ratio, so it should get much quicker when I lean it out some

I tried bumping up the RPM/Shift Points +200rpm and it hit 9psi boost and mid 11's A/F.
At this rate, looks like shifting at 6000RPM with be 12's A/F and boost around 10psi

...and yes, larger injectors are included in the kit.
Still running stock fuel pump, still have not yet installed my Water/Meth kit
and still have'nt installed my built Trans and ATS Triple Lok TC.

One interesting thing I noticed at launch, my Edge 2800 stall
that used to flash to 3000 with my basic mods (intake/exhaust/headers/tune)
...is now Launching HARD at 3300 rpm, so it's right into the power band almost instantly

as a result, it's a killer stop light launcher in 4WD
...even with 3.55 gears and heavy 305/50R20 Terra Grapplers
