I have a 2006 Ram 1500 SLT 2WD 4.7L
When I replaced the front calipers the other day, I came across a snag.
The aftermarket replacement calipers that you'll pick up from your local parts store (i.e O'Reiley's, AutoZone, Advanced Auto, etc.) come with a whole bag of extra parts, but not come with a replacement banjo bolt for the brake line fitting.
The replacement caliper will have a different size banjo bolt hole to attach the brake line to the caliper. It will be smaller. I've been told the new caliper will have a 10mm as opposed to the factory 12mm.
When attaching the line to the caliper...
On the fitting, I used the 2 brass washers provided with the new caliper on top of the fitting and reused the smaller (factory) washer on the bottom of the fitting. The original banjo bolt and top washer will not be needed (but I'm holding onto them just in case).
Pictured are the original banjo bolt (left) and the new HELP brand banjo bold model 13912.
It can be purchased at any of the above mentioned parts stores. But aware that said stores may only stock one. You may have to visit 2 different part stores to get the pair (one for each caliper).
My rule of thumb being to change out both at the same time.
Hope this comes in handy when you get your Ram torn down.
