I've been waiting on the diesel, I ordered a 13 penta star waited 2 weeks the dealer told me the local factory ref Sid they wouldn't build the truck, they wanted to build the truck I ordered with the hemi 6 speed Gould the dealer I'd take the hemi with the 8 speed .but they wouldn't build it that way even though they were on the lots.almost like they ran out of 8 speeds! So much for the North American truck of the year! Hope their smart enough not to do the same with the diesel, although it would surprise me.i ended up canceling the 2013
You should be able to build a truck with an 8 speed now. I believe they were on restriction earlier in the build last year but no longer. The diesel should be orderable in December (guessing, no clue of an actual date...).
The Ram site works but there are errors. It shows the specs, codes and prices for a Ram R/T but the list shows it as a Sport. The image does not show the R/T and it is not listed at the first page. We have one ordered and the MSRP is exactly correct.

The small image of the Laramie for the available trim shows the images of the limited and not the actual regular Laramie. Notice the painted bumper instead of the chrome bumper in the attached image. How much extra do I get off the price of the truck I ordered for finding these problems?
1. This was on the 2013 site too, when I pick a trim and hit build and price it should expand and select the trim I just came from, instead it resets to a tradesman and I have to find the trim again very confusing.
2. Only showing four trim levels at a time on main site with very subtle left right on the trim list. Almost missed the limited trim because it's by itself on third page. IMO you should figure out how to show all nine trims on the first page.
Still lots of incorrect info on the 2014 Ram build site. I just watched a video review of a 2014 2500 6.4L Hemi Big Horn model. You can't even select the 6.4L Hemi as an option if you try and build a big horn.
Friends, the BUILD site only compares what you want to what is in current inventory or in Transit at the dealerships surrounding your ZIP CODE
it really has nothing to do with what is offered by Ram
the only way to find out what Ram actually offers
is to go to the dealership & sit down with the dealerships computer
or get the latest Ram Brochure
this is what you can see on your own computer, it has not been updated for 2014 yet
it takes quite a while to download, the pictures are huge megabyte users, the first 6 mg are just useless pictures http://www.ramtrucks.com/vehicle_brochure/
I'm not sure this is the case. I have been building trucks on the 2013 build site for months and there has NEVER been a model that matched my build within 150 miles or even the state of Florida (3500 5.7 Hemi Crew cab, Laramie Longhorn). The only 5.7 Hemis I could find near me were Tradesmen models. It always said 0 models fit your desecration but I could still build out the truck the way I wanted it regardless of inventory. Not saying the 2014 site works that way but never had a problem with the 2013 Build and Price.
here is a FAST d/l site for the 2013 Ram 1500 i believe
at the back it has the
BUYERS GUIDE
with colors, dimensions, tow weights, standard equipment, optional equipment, & N/A
Not sure who does the rambodybuilder website, but it needs work. The specs sheet doesn't even show the 8-spd available for the Hemi. It also shows the 3.55 available where it's not.
I had high hopes when I started looking at the site, thinking maybe there was finally a single source for all the details.
Don't get me started on the body-builder PDF trail of doom...
The information is accurate at the time of publishing. Product planning switched a few things around post-publishing though. I've pinged the Ram group to get this updated (as well as all of the fixes you guys reported...).
Sure wish I could figure out what Build & Price is meant to do. The 2014 version has changed its offerings several times. When I first used it all the colors and engines were there, then some choices went away, and then the diesel came back even though it is currently unavailable but many of the colors are missing. And, as already noted, what is in dealer inventory may be different from what can be built on the website.
The build flow is confusing and messy. I have to pick a model which then chooses the many standard and optional features for me. However, the seats I want may be offered in one model but not the wheels and tires I need, and there is no option to mix and match. Is that really the way orders are built or is the website dumbed down for the consumer? Does the dealer's ordering system have more flexibility?
At a high level, no, both are roughly the same showing what options are available with each trim. However in implementation, the consumer build and price has some flaws. Like choosing interior color separate from seating surfaces, etc.
The B&P tool shows what has been available (and may be in inventory somewhere), what is available, and what will be available (really soon).
If you have any detailed questions on what happened to what or if you can order a specific combination, I can try to answer them to the best of my ability (or a dealer can as well).
Thanks for the response. I am waiting for the 3-liter Turbo Diesel, whenever that may be available to order; the dealer has no idea but it sounds like it could be a month or more. The truck should include the following major items which I cannot seem to build together on the website. Other things such as a sunroof or power rear window are not needed. The biggest hangups seem to be the colors, seats and wheels. Most other things can be added to a given model.
1500 Quad Cab, 6'4" box, Turbo Diesel
Exterior Western Brown with Bright Silver Metallic trim
Leather Power Bucket Seats, Cattle Tan, heated and vented
Black dash
Heated steering wheel
4-Corner Air Suspension
17x7 wheels with On/Off-Road Tires
Full-Size Spare Tire
Skid Plates
Anti-Spin Differential
Trailer Brake Control
Engine Block Heater
Power Folding Mirrors
Rear Camera
Front/Rear Park Assist
Uconnect 8.4AN
Premium Sound (Alpine Surround w/9 Spkrs & Subwoofer)
Remote Start System
Overhead Console with Garage Door Opener
Convenience Group
Anyone know if / when the website configurator will be updated? At least for the Laramie Longhorn, several of the colors are still not in there and neither is the RAMBox option.
And of course we have the Canadian site too, we have different packages and options that the US.
I ordered a 2014 Ram 1500 CC 4x4 with the Outdoorsman package and other options and it is totally different in the US.
I'm looking at the code guides which are the "bible" by which the dealer and fleet customers go by when ordering. There are internal systems that dealers and fleet buyers can use to configure and order vehicles but they are "raw" compared to the B&P tool on the site.
With that said, the same info generates the code guide and powers all the websites. The major difference is there is a bunch of steps between the generation of the information and the Ram Trucks B&P tool that can cause issues.
You may be able to work a deal out with a dealer to swap the tires as that will get you closest to your preferred config. My local dealer does that all the time.

If you have the code guides, can you tell me if the GVWR on the 6.4L 2500 is 10,000lbs or 9,000lbs? Rambodybuilders site says 10,000 for the 6.4L but the ramtrucks build site says its 9,000. Not having any luck with my local dealer so far.
SPP - Re: Laramie Longhorn - the website shows Blue Streak Pearl as a 2 tone option, my dealer is indicating that his "codes sheet" says this won't be manufactured. Can you confirm either way?
