I've decided I can't keep the tow mirrors on my white 2014 sport. I don't tow a trailer very often, plus depending on how the wife parks, they are being a pain in the garage.
Maybe somebody here needs a set of tow mirrors and is willing to trade? I only have about 600 miles on my truck, they are like brand new.
They'd have to be white (I don't want to hassle with painting) power sport mirrors with turn signals because that's what I have now. I'm in Wisconsin, so somebody close by would be great!
If your truck came with the tow mirrors, I'm not sure you have the proper harnesses for the power fold mirrors to work. I believe someone already tried a swap like this and couldn't get their mirrors to fold.
once you get your post count up you can post them in the for sale section. theres always people wanting tow mirrors. shouldnt be hard to find a person with a white sport willing to trade.
I am have the tow mirrors replaced with the standard mirrors on my 2014 Limited on Monday. The dealer is replacing the mirrors and switch (dealer accommodation).
Dealer replaced the tow mirrors on my 2014 Limited today with standard mirrors. All functions work properly except the power fold option (as some have stated this would be the case).
They installed the correct switch and downloaded the software for the standard mirrors (spent over half a day), but could not get the fold option to work.
This is not an issue with me---just glad to have standard mirrors!!!

I still can't wrap my head around why they can't make the stupid power fold option work. Theres power there for all the other functions, it just seems so simple! Either way I'm cool with that part not working, never had that option before so I won't miss it and I'll be able to breathe a bit easier when the wife is backing into the garage.
Got an email from my dealer today, standard mirrors are $1600! Damn!!! He's getting them for me and I'm keeping the tow mirrors, I'll put the big ones on for the summer that switch em back in the fall. It's all good!
I received a call today from the regional Ram representative. He explained that Ram knows about the serious wind turbulence noise problem caused by the tow mirrors. However, there is nothing they will do for me. So, I and others paluged with this terrible designed mirror and stalk are screwed by Ram. "You are on your own fella" but thank you for providing feedback for future Ram designs.

What does this noise sound like.... I've had mine up to 95 mph and no noise that I could attribute to the mirrors. They are absolutely silent at everyday speeds.
Understood you have your reasons.
I had a really weird experience with my tow mirrors yesterday. I was pulling into a main street in the center lane of a 3 lane road. In the middle of the turn, in the corner of my eye on the right side, I believed I saw a car almost upon me so I swerved to give him room. It turned out to be the huge d/s tow mirror reflected a 'life size' image of a car that was slightly behind me in the right hand lane. The combination of my turning and his position really gave me a start! Those mirrors report a LARGE image!
Thanks to this thread I now know and have confirmed I have power folding mirrors lol.. I swear if it wasn't for you guys (haven't dug into the book yet) I would have gone a while without knowing a lot of things! Thank you!
Question for you guys, who has tow mirrors: I got a 2014 Laramie with tow mirrors and having a hard time getting used to the thing that passenger side mirror is not a " objects in mirror are closer that they appear" type thing. I have a feeling that I'm getting a very narrow view and a big blind spot in a non-towing position.
1. What was your experience adjusting yourself to this ?
2. Are there any replacement mirror lenses that would be a " objects in mirror are closer that they appear" type deal?
I hate to think that I will have to replace my mirrors with the regular ones.

I had mine swapped out today on my 2 week old 2014 Limited for free.. All working ok except Fold In. Dealer said they have to call Corporate and get the code entered on my VIN for folding mirrors. Once that happens next week there is a excellent change they can load the software to the truck and it will work. We shall see.
Without Corporate adding it to the VIN, the truck won't take the software. That info will push down to the Service Dept.
I've had my truck for 500 miles now, and it came with the towing mirrors. I thought our trucks looked pretty mean lifted, and with the towing mirrors up - had a certain imposing balance. Unfortunately I tried like a bitch to get used to them up, and never really could. Their functionality for everyday driving was definitely subpar. So when my wife took her first ride, and she immediately balked at the difficult view in the mirrors, I snapped them level and when about setting them up for her.
After her ride, I hopped in and WHAT A DIFFERENCE with the mirror in the normal attitude - snapped down and horizontal! The view out the main mirror is great, and the smaller mirror now actually lets me see most of the side of the vehicle AND more importantly, it lets me see where that rear tire is at all times.
Not being used to my daily driver having a 149" wheel base, I enjoy knowing where my tire is while navigating curbed turns.
Towing mirrors in the vertical position suck monkey balls when it comes to everyday practicality. Just saying…
What hardware did the dealer change out other than the mirrors?
My dealer said that the door module as well as the mirror/window switch was different.
I appreciate any help as I would like to get the powerfold option working if possible and at the moment I am at a standstill with my dealer on the path forward. By the way, they are truly helpful, but are unaware of how to advance.
Changed both the mirrors and the drivers door switch.
Called corp and updated VIN info to show that I had the normal mirrors. That way they are under warranty and can now accept the dealer s/w. You can't install s/w at the dealer for an item not in your corp database of hardware specs.
My dealer is still trying to get corporate to help with programming the power fold option for the standard mirrors. He is continuing trying to get engineering involved to facilitate.
Initial response was that they do not condone modifications to new vehicles?????
Has anyone other than MandevilleMike had success getting the power fold option to work when replacing the tow mirrors with the standard mirrors? Also, is it necessary to change the door modules (I have been told both yes and no)?

I had the same problem with my dealer and corporate not allowing them to flash my BCM with new codes to activate the power fold feature. The fact that l am in Canada complicated matters because according to my dealership the codes are different from the US.
I got tired of getting the run around went ahead and got them to power fold myself by adding a DPDT rocker switch.
A very simple mod. 2 wires on the mirror control the folding, adding power and ground to them will make them fold/unfold one way. Reversing the power and ground will make them fold the other way.
I just did my drivers side mirror over the weekend, the wires were solid yellow to unfold and solid light blue to fold. Its nice not having to get out of the truck and fold my mirror to get into the garage anymore. Hope to get to the passenger side this weekend.
My power folding mirrors were from a 2013 Laramie in chrome and l got them off Ebay.
