Problem started about 6 weeks ago. Went to start it and it just clicked. Tried again and it started. Since then sometimes it starts right up but other times it will only click one to thirty tries and then starts. Now it will just click - won't start. Tried a lot of times. 12.1 volts on one battery 12.2 on the other.
I know people think a 12 volt battery should have 12 volts but normal is more like 13 volts. I'd say you have dead batteries. Try jumping it and see if it starts. If it does you probably need new batteries. Its best to replace both at the same time.
I'd also try tapping on the starter while someone spins the key.
The diminishing problem of it clicking sounds to me like the starter is bad. It could be the solenoid or bad continuity between the solenoid and the starter.
I agree with annexe. This sounds like exactly what happened when my starter started going bad. Got a new one at Autozone and put it in myself in the parking lot. Real easy fix.
