Live in Arizona, no emission testing in my county, but I just picked up a 1997 Ram 5.9 diesel with all the EGR emission/smog equipment installed, it was originally sold as a California truck. I want to remove all emission equipment, just not sure on which items. To start with I plan on plugging one vacuum line off, remove EGR valve, remove the pipe that goes from the exhaust manifold to the intake manifold which is the same pipe that the EGR valve is attached to at the exhaust end. Also cut out the Catalytic converter and the 2 sensors that are located at each side of the catalytic converter and follow the 2 sensors back to where they start from and disconnect. I there anyone out there that is well versed on these emission systems that can tell me if I am removing the right items and what other items that I may not be aware of? Also when I disconnect the vacuum line my warning dash light comes on no surprise, can you tell me if it is possible to turn off this particular warning/code light permanently? I read some where and cannot remember the terminology used but it basically was saying that after disconnecting complete emission system that one would have to readjust or reset something, it may have been referring to pressure or something I just can't remember I will try to relocate this article. I know this can be a real technical issue but I would appreciate any and all help that anyone can give me. Thanks, jerry5
