I want to replace my giant barrel muffler with something with a little better sound and allot better throughput. I was thinking of a dynomax ultra flo ss 17296 3" in and 3' out. I never replaced a muffler before, so I am assuming I just cut or unbolt existing mullfer then slip this new one over existing pipes and clamp? sorry, like I said, have very little clue. this muffler with K&N drop in should help truck breath better which should get me more responsiveness and better mpg, if every slight.... the muffler is ony $67 on amazon? is it worth it. what pipes do I have? I am about to replace 02 sensors before and after cat as I have an error code.
01 Dogge ram 1500, long bed quad cab, 5.2. K&N drop in factory air box. other then the ribbed air tube, this box seems fine to me, it get air from passenger side fender.

While you still have old stuff in place, muffler and O2s, decarb the engine with SeaFoam. I would consult a custom muffler shop for a recommendation on a muffler, just tell them you want something a little more throaty. They'll have a better idea what can be done without reducing the back pressure too much, which will cause codes to be thrown.

I went with the super 44 flowmaster muffler and i have no regrets, it has the 3 in and 3 out, breaths nice and has a nice but not aggravating exhaust sound and you can use clamps or weld in the new muffler. I think i bought mine for about $100 so its nice and cheap too

I had my factory muffler for 11 years. The Dynomax and Flowmaster both rotted-out in 2 years in the Michigan salt. Didn't care much for either of them when they were new.

I ve the ram 1500 quad cab long bed 4x2with 5.2 motor, single exhaust, is it 3" pipe, with the new muffler slip over existing pipes or do I need to buy clamps or sleeves? I do not have access to welder and would like to do this one mself.
I have the ultraflo ss on m03 ram and it sounds mean and give some nice pep to my step. I am leaning toward the Dynomax 17296 Ultra-Flo SS Muffler, $67 dollars on amazon with free shipping, 3" in and out" straight through, very high throughput....just concerned about connecting it to existing pipes. I am not buying it for loos, but for increased performance efficiency

ya the new muffler should just slide together with your exhaust pipe then just clamp it good make sure you don't cheap out on the clamps it just leads to issues down the road
