Do you /or should you/ trust the oil life indicator in the EVIC? Or are you old-school and just change it every so many miles?
I had my first oil change today at 4000 miles. I know there is a whole lot of discussion as to when you should do the first oil change but that is for another topic
The EVIC shows that's only half the oil life... My question is should I not worry about the number of miles and just use the EVIC to tell me when it is time?
I change my oil every 5000km (3000mi). I drive a short distance every day, so it works out to about 1 oil change every 5ish months. I plan on keep this truck hopefully forever, so spending a little more on oil isn't a big worry.
I agree with what's been said above though. If you're only planning on keeping your truck for 4 years, why spend more money and time than needed?
Will keep my truck forever is a good cliche ... in all seriousness bought my 05' Tundra with intentions of never buying another truck guess what :gy:
Yea, there is still a little maverick "I know better" mentality in the pickup truck world even though the days of the simplistic pickups are long gone. Watch a video of the explanation of the ZF transmission and see if you want to service that bad boy in the backyard.
