WHERE IS THE MPG!!! i have done some things to my truck like Airaid CAI, two in one out 40series flowmaster exaust, and i have an rs4 chip on order to install. and i was wondering if maybe for the winter time if i could put a surpintine belt w/out a/c. also i was wondering what size after market E-fan could i run.
-Welcome to the forum. I get 8-10 in town(as most of my trips are less than 2 miles), but it bumps up to 14-15 on road trips. Alot of threads on this already, curious to know what you are expecting.
The MPG is not under the hood of a truck packing a 360, that's for sure. You can try changing out your ignition coil for a nice Accel or MSD one, I hear those do wonders. A Superchips Flashpaq works well, until you realize the Go pedal makes you go a lot faster. Then you just end up in debt like me! But, in the end, no matter what you do, about 12 mpg combined city/highway is about where most people end up with these pickups.
I have to agree with the other guys and say MPGs and trucks do not really go together. The average MPGs that everyone here gets is around 12, that is what I am getting (12.3 right now!!!! haha)
Really if you have put an intake and exhaust that will help. If you add some headers to the mix that will complete the breathing system of the truck, which should help. You can also lower the gear ratio, this would make you slower but bring you MPGs up. I would not really recommend doing this since you will hate the truck after haha.
An electric fan like you were saying may help. If you get a underdrive pully it may help. Look into getting a throttle body spacer, or a ported throttle body, that may help.
If you do not have a tonneau cover get one. They help a lot on the highway since there is less wind resistance. The tailgate really holds the wind, its like a parachute haha
