So it's been a pretty long while y'all but I'm still here and building lost the old thread no idea where it went so i figure ill start this one over and keep it as up to date as possible since A WHOLE LOT HAS CHANGED since the first time i drove her off the lot.
THREAD UPDATE though lol. Lift kit came in the mail today to my parents house and I just went and purchased the rims. 20x9 XD Badlands Chrome with the negative 12 offset. Install set for saturday morning!!! I'll get as many pics as I can from outside the bay doors haha
Hahaha It's all good guys I dont care about a lil off topic fun while we wait for things to come in, keeps the thread going and makes it even more fun and yeah whenever you're in state let me know, we'll get some ram guys together and do something fun
Just did some late night shopping and went ahead and got some HIDs for my headlights, went with a new company out of Cali that I actually found on instagram called GG Lighting, they make a great product for an unbeatable price. Went with the 6000k 35w headlights and I'll go ahead and get the fogs ordered up after my bday haha.
So a little change of plans here they ended up selling my XD Badlands but gave me a great price on some XD Strikes in chrome, they're 20x10 instead of x9 and instead of the negative 12 offset...negative 24 offset...deep dishin!!! pics soon to come!
Quick update: I will never EVER do business with rough country again not only did they lie to me about the lift in which they sold me but then they lied to the shop when they called them and then had the balls to tell me "prove it" when I told them they messed up. ...needless to say a whole days worth of grief and 4200$ later in fixing shit Fabtech was the way to go, you pay for what you get, in every aspect. Pics up tomorrow going to bed.
Thanks man I love the way she's sitting now and I'm loving the rims and the system thumps. Here's my issue and what happened with RCX. As some of you may or may not know they dont make a lift kit for over an 05 ram 1500 2wd. But as I'm sure you all know a 2002-2008 ram is all considered a 3rd gen ram. So I called them and I asked "hey I have an 07 and I'm wondering whats the difference here and is there any reason why that 02-05 kit shouldnt fit my 07?"...and after the guy on the phone looked online and checked around he said he couldnt tell any difference, still I wasnt convinced....so I called again a week later just to double check, got the same answer they just said I might need some break line extentions, so I said alright lets order it up, ordered it, made the appointment with the shop brought it in at 9 am with the kit in the back of my truck and dropped it off, at 4 pm the shop called and said that there is no way in hell this lift even would come close to working on my truck and they called RCX and they agreed theres no way, so I had to buy a new kit on the spot because at this point the front of my truck was on the ground and tying up their lift....so I called and spoke to the manager at RCX to get my return code and told him my disappointment and issue and he pretty much told me "prove it that we lied to you"...either way a horrible experience with the product and the service.
ya 06+ 3rd gens are set up differently in the front suspension. 05 and before 3rd gens have torsion bars...if i recall correctly. This is one reason the earlier third gens can fit wider tires than us later 3rd gens, their set up a tad different up front. RCX should have known that and not have sold you the kit. I'm glad u got everything straightened out, as i said before, looks great!
thanks man and I'm not sure the shop I took it to had a vehicle specific box for my truck so they just pulled it out of the stock room and installed it all
thinking about doing some headers and 4.10 gears next what do you guys think? Birthday is tomorrow so I think I'm gonna treat myself to some tow mirrors finally lol. But my buddys 6.0 diesel just smokes me non stop so I gotta do a little something something to amp up the power in this wedge of an motor haha. What do y'all think?
I'm also curious in getting some H/O cams for it too, I know they put them in a lot of the jeeps so I'm looking into getting some of those as well. She's got the stance and lift and some of the go but she needs a lot more for my liking. Shes chipped intake exhaust but still needs some more pep in her step
swap a hemi into it?? but in all seriousness, im right there with you. i have been looking into trying to make the 4.7 any faster than it currently is and there just arent a ton of upgrades to do to it to make it faster.
trust me if a hemi crate wasn't 7 grand I would. And in all honest at that price I would just swap a diesel into it haha. :Wow1:. But yeah it's tough out there trying to add pep to the 4.7 I wish they made more products for it. I want to do headers I know that much, but I've also found some universal turbo kits that would require some alteration and such but I mean it's an option. :thk:
Truck looks great!! How long have you had the federals? Just curious as to how well they are wearing. I have 10k miles on mine and still have 85-90% tread
got the fogs in today from GG-Lighting so I figured I'd throw this pic up for y'all waiting on the headlights to get in after a little shipping mishap so here's just the fogs
Headlights are in, just been kinda busy havn't really had the time to go out and take some decent pictures but I think we're nearing the end of this build here I got the tow mirrors left I want to and headers, I also want to fabricate some tow hooks installed in the front so I'll look into that and then possibly gears but it's all going to be with time, tow mirrors will be in within the next month though
and in reference to the tow hooks I know mopar makes the ones that bolt right up but the part of the truck that they bolt to was moved with the body lift so they're gonna end up having to actually be custom made and welded on instead of bolted onto the frame like they are supposed to have been
