I'm going to be doing a very similar build in the next few months. I'm planning on doing the low comp stroker kit and the hughes top end power package kit that comes with the aluminum heads and intake. Will be running an SCT tuner. Hoping for more power to haul my fourwheelers and boat up these mountains. I'm running 285 tires with 4.10 gears right now and getting 12-14 mpg on the highway cruising at 65-70 mph. Up it to 80 and MPG drops to 11. What RPM do these stroker kits make their power at? Sorry for the hijack. Just saw lots of good discussion going on here.
Thanks,
Dan

Well according to what I've looked into and hence why I'm going with a stroker instead of a high comp or revving setup is that stroker a produce more torque in a larger range than the factory setup, basicly means that the engine with hit torque sooner and have more of it and be in the torque zone longer

So rpm wise the same as a stock engine maybe a little sooner and will give it to ya longer and a LOT more of it

Yeah that's exactly what I'm hoping for. I wish someone would show some dyno numbers from a 5.9 magnum engine built with the hughes top end kit and the stroker kit. Hughes says on their website that modifying these magnum truck engines is a major part of their business. I don't understand why they wouldn't build an engine with both of these kits installed and do some dyno tests and post the results. You'd think that would be a great sales tool for them.

So my top end pack got here today and I'm SUPER excited, I have rows and rows of shiny new parts on my bench.......I almost want to pull the engine now and start putting new stuff on it!

spread out all the shiny goodies and take lots of pictures of em so the light can hit them at every angle and make all us rednecks envious.

Take lots of pictures during disassemble to help upon reassembly

Yeah I make sure to do that! I'm not quite ready yet (I lack the skills) to pull and build my engine so I'm currently going to assist a mechanic who is a friend of mine for about a month so I can learn how to do things right.
