I personally don't think you can consider the 2002-2005 and 2006-2008 a body style change (I'm not that familiar what Dodge considers them). Yes they were updated but not a body style change. I owned a 2005 and then a 2008 before I just picked up my 2011.
I would consider from 02-05 and 06-08 a mild body change. Much more than 94-02. There was no body change for 2nd gens. Aside from the mirror and moldings, you can't tell them apart. You have to have one to know where the changes are.
Frankly, I'm happy as Hell to be driving a 2011 Ram .... beats the crap outta my old '93 F-150 that I've had for 15 years ..... Why did I wait so long.....
I just want them to bring back manual transmissions to their half ton pickups! Too much fun! I've only owned manuals and its the way to go....(for a young guy who doesn't have kids)
=D
Diesel with regular cab short bed!!! 6 speed manual trans <<< I would be in love.
I'd be a little bent if they did a body overhaul(unless it was for the worst).
I'd also be a little bent if they offered some fancy-schmancy mechanical upgrade too.
However, historically speaking, buying the first run of a dramatic style change is not always the best way to go. Usually the first 2 model years they are working out the bugs, and fine-tuning any other oddball mechanical or reliability issues.
it's funny...wife and I were JUST talking about the 2012/2013's on our way home from dinner tonight for when I get back from Korea in Sept 2012...cause my '09 MIGHT have 25k on it by then who knows...but if they do put the 6.4...it might be a toss up, cause I already have plans for the heads, cams, and tb...and maybe a LSD...so only time will tell
well,
think about the engines, Ram drivers are going to order a HEMI, either the 5.7L or the new 6.4-liter HEMI V8 engine that produces around 465 hp and 465 lb.-ft. of torque
not a new 3.6-liter V-6 engine coupled with a Pentastar is smooth shifting six-speed transaxle automatic and has an output of the best in its class (283 horsepower from the previous 197 horsepower 3.8-liter V-6 engine )
