Magnaflow info

I was comparing prices/options of magnaflow mufflers and figured I post this as it might help someone. Keep in mind the prices are current (for future viewers) and you can typically find cheaper prices elsewhere, but it gives a good relative value for comparison. All magnaflow mufflers are reversable, so a 2.5" DI/3" SO is the same as a 3" SI/2.5" DO...

Alot of 4.7L and 5.7L HEMI guys are using these mufflers and y pipe, all magnaflow products are stainless steel and straight through design (I don't work for magnaflow, just like their products, lol)...

Hopefully the columns stay lined up when I post this...

SI = Single inlet
DO = Dual outlet
SO = Single outlet
DI = Dual inlet

Magnaflow Info:

Part Part number Inlet/Outlet Misc Info Price
Y pipe 10778 2.5" DI/3" SO 10" length $47.79
Muffler 11219 3" SI/3" SO 14" Length (3" x 9" Oval) $145.79
Muffler 11249 3" SI/3" SO 18" Length (3" x 9" Oval) $161.97
Muffler 12619 3" SI/3" SO 14" Length (6" Round) $144.73
Muffler 12198 3" SI/2.5" DO 14" (5" x 8" Oval) $161.97
Muffler 12288 3" SI/2.5" DO 18" (5" x 8" Oval) $179.11
Muffler 12278 3" SI/2.25" DO 18" (5" x 8" Oval) $179.11

thanks for posting this.. Im in the market for some stock dual pipes and then a muffler so this might come in handy for me if I deside to go with Magnaflow!

Without checking other prices, the Y-Pipe is half of what you've got listed. Shipped off AA was $27.xx.

Yeah those are prices off magnaflow's site, like I said above I just posted them to compare between the different mufflers they offer. You can probably find all these products for nearly half the price elsewhere.

Timmy: I just posted the most common ones (from what I've seen 14" and 18" are most common)...no point retyping the whole magnaflow site right? lol

Glad people are using this...

Question....is there any difference in sound between, say, the 14 inch oval and the 14 inch round mufflers?

#9 ·
Well, the cross sectional surface area of the round 6" muffler is ~29 square inches, and the cross sectional surface area of the oval 3"x9" muffler is ~21 square inches, so assuming equal length mufflers, I'd think the round would be quieter as it has less volume...

Actually, now that you brought that up.....The 6" round 14" long (total volume of ~396 cubic inches) may actually be quieter than the 3"x9" oval 18" long muffler (total volume of ~382 cubic inches)...

Thanks for the info, may have to try both in person to know for sure. Reason I ask is I've got a FM 40 and love the tone, but want something that flows better and is a bit louder but have no experience with the magnaflows.

magnaflows sound different than flowmasters, but I think they sound better. Some like flowmaster sound better. I have a hunch that even though the 6" round 14" long muffler has more volume than the 18" long oval muffler, since it is roughly the same volume as the 18" oval, but the oval one is 4" longer, the oval 18" would still be quieter. I think I'll end up going with the round 14" as I think it will be the best bang for the buck.
