I got the bad new from the dealer yesterday. The 6 spd is toast in the '00 3500. from what I hear (relayed through a third party..) either a bearing spun in the case, or the mainshaft itself. The dealer couldn't find a good used one close by.
I have found a bunch online in the carparts.com
BUT apparently there are 2 choices!
M.T., 4x4, 5.9L, (6-360, diesel), 6 spd, Ident 52108402

The dealer is 60 miles from here, and it's sunday night. anyone have any idea what the difference would be?
There are about 20 of each to choose from, although I wonder if the salvage yards would definitly know which is which...
Most say they have been 'reconditioned'...or 'rebuilt'....ranging in price from 2500 to 3500$. (with core of course).
ok. new info just came to light:
apparently the top choice in the above list is for 6 spds up to and including some '00's.
the bottom choice in the above list is for 6 spds for some '00's and up.
any ideas on a build date 'split'?
can you see the difference by crawling under it?
