I have already posted about the CST suspension lift for a 2011 1500 2wd. I definitely think that’s the kit I'm going to go with. I’m completely new to trucks and needing some help understanding this all.
"This CST 6" suspension lift system is designed for use on the new 2009, 2010 and 2011 Dodge Ram 1500 2wd trucks only. This lift will fit all engine sizes and all cab configurations and bed lengths. The 6" front lift consists of a pair of CST 4" lift spindles, CST 2" Lift Urethane Coil Spring Spacers, and extended length braided stainless steel front brake hoses. The factory front shocks can be reused with this suspension lift. If you wish to replace the factory shock we offer two options, the Rancho RS9000XL series RS999368 and the Bilstein HD series BE5-G740-H0. The rear suspension is raised 4" inches over stock using a pair of CST 4" lift steel rear coil spring spacers, a CST track bar drop bracket, and all necessary installation hardware. The rear shocks must be replaced and ....... offers a number of options. Rancho, Bilstein, and CST rear shock absorbers can be selected and purchased using the drop down selection boxes located beneath this item description. "
I understand most of that so my question is..... Should I replace the front shocks or leave the stock ones? and out of the three brands listed for the rear shocks is one brand better than the other. (FYI the lift is for cosmetic purposes only)
On to the next one......
Tire & Wheel Info:
This suspension lift system is not compatible with factory 18" or smaller diameter wheels and larger than factory size tires. Aftermarket wheels with less back space are required to prevent the tire sidewall from making contact with the CST 4" lift spindle. For this reason CST recommends using an 18" or larger diameter wheel that is 8" or 9" inches wide. When running a wheel diameter smaller than 20" inches wheel back space must not exceed 5.00" inches! PerformanceLifts.com has numerous 2009-2011 Ram 1500 2wd customers safely running factory Dodge 20" diameter wheels with 305 series tires without wheel spacers. Tires wider than 12.00" inches (wider than a 305 series) mounted on factory Dodge 20" diameter wheels will not clear the CST lift spindle without the addition of a wheel spacer. This kit will not fit 2500 or 3500 series Ram trucks! Please note, this kit has been verified to fit 2009, 2010 and 2011 Dodge Ram 1500 2wd trucks with the new body style and multi-link coil spring rear suspension design.
I have the 20" wheels on my truck and would like to keep them and just add bigger tires with the lift to complete the look. So my question…. With this lift can I keep my stock rims and what is a 305 series tire, and with everything recommended by this company what is the biggest tire I should go with and any recommendation on a brand and model of tire?
Thanks for reading this post and helping me out with any information you could provide.
