Default Observation between generations and 4th gens

So as far as I know, in their own generations Rams have not been that different from each other. 2nd changed the interior a bit and the body a bit, 3rd gen changed their headlights and maybe some other stuff, not too sure. And that's about it

But its like every 4th gen, particularly like 10+ have some pretty big changes each year?

Am I wrong here or is that just kinda weird? hahaha

3rd gens have the facelift for the 06+ which was a different Hemi engine which included MDS. Front headlights, bumper, grille, tail lights and hood. Also changed the interiors around. Different radio, buttons, cup holders a bit, changed the fabrics in the fabric seats. Quad cab rear seats got head rests. Prob a few more changes too. I have my early 3rd gen 2500 work rig parked outfront and my 08 in the driveway. Driving them both tomorrow, so I will look for more changes.

IMO, you are seeing the mindset of a European car company that is used to keeping products fresh in highly competitive markets, bringing that same mindset to managing their U.S. assets. I for one, like it as updates and changes have been coming quite a bit faster.

EPA is demanding stricter controls, electronics advancements seem to be occurring faster.
put them together and you have more frequent changes.

the more things change the more they stay the same,

manufacturers do not want to alienate their customer base by trying out a completly new design that people will reject. look at some of the weid stuff from the early sixties.

Bestestdrummner, I see you are 18, cool, but you weren't there. I had a front-row seat for the 94 Ram back then, it was not an interior and body change "a bit". The 94 Ram was not an evolution from the Gen 1, it was a Revolution. Ford and Chevys jaws hit the ground when this came out. Prior to this, most trucks were on a 5-7 year re-fresh cycle, and a 10 year re-design cycle. The Gen2 Ram forced ford and chevy to change the way they did trucks. Ram had less than 10% of the market before 94. Now it is nipping the heels of GM for 2nd place.

I'm not sure the mindset you speak of is particularly European, remember these are the people that gave us the Beatle. I think it's just society as a whole seems to always expect something new these days. The same people who want a new mobile every six months don't want to wait 5 years for a vehicle makeover.
