There is a lot of talk of people having problems with their IPods, IPhones, Android phones with the 430 and 430N radios. The specific issue is usually the fact that they won't connect to the radio when plugged into the USB port in the glove box. In addition, the bluetooth streaming can sound like chipmunks have invaded your device (goes fast, then stops... then goes fast, then stops, repeat)
This was a major issue with all 2011 Chrysler radios. The blame seems to be on Apple for this but I also fault Chrysler for not getting updates out sooner.
There are fixes for this and they are software updates to the UConnect module as well as the radio. They are 2 seperate updates and they must both be done to have a stable system (I say this since my radio kept crashing when I only had the radio update without the UConnect update for a couple weeks but was stable since the UConnect update).
Below is the information you need to solve this problem. Please follow the link for the UConnect Update and read the instructions for the Radio update.
430N Radio Update
An Update Disk should have been sent to you but if you don't have it then request it from the dealer. You will know if you have the update simply by looking to see if Sirius Traffic is working or not. If it is not, and you have the 430N, then you need the update. If you have the 430 (non-nav) then you will have to ask the dealer to install it like I did.
I hope this helps and I hope this ends the frustration that many new users are having with this issue.
WELL HERE WE GO AGAIN::::: if you have an ipod or iphone,
please do not do the 4.3.5 update till i can test it. I have just been told by another person that I had helped out with the Uconnect update that there is a new problem with this update. I will be testing it and let you know more soon.
I have the Media Center 130 cd/mp3 in my Big Horn. It has the USB port in the glove compartment and will charge my I-pod Nano but will not play it. I have read up on the Media Center 130 and it doesnt mention anything about being able to use it but was wondering if anyone out there has the same Media Center and is able to control or Listen to there I-pod through the USB port.
Hello 1500Hemi, it should work. Can you drop down your glove box and look inside to the right, you should see a module that looks like the one I have attached below. Can you take a picture of it for me and post it? Thanks
Does anybody have another source for the software update for the 430n RHB?
Dodge Customer assistance has been non-responsive and when I go to the file on the Mediafire (I think that is it), it is either not there or it downloads to 99% and then the download gets interuppted.
I bought the truck slightly used so if the disc got sent out, it probably got sent to the original owner.
Has anyone had any luck getting the update disc from a dealer or are they still clueless?
Hello, which update are you trying to get? There is one for the Uconnect system and then there is one for the radio itself.
If you need the Uconnect update (the vehicle is a 2011, correct?) then you can PM me and I will set you up with the file.
I did not know there were different updates.
I did finally get a response from Dodge Customer Assistance.
They are sending me out a CD with the update.
I won't know which (or maybe both?) update I am getting until I get it.
If I only get the radio update and need the Uconnect update (yes, it is a 2011), I'll shoot you a PM.
I appreciate the response.
the CD from the dealer, it covers the TRAVEL LINK, not the traffic link
This explains it, note the Sirius freebie, as sort of an apology http://www.wk2jeeps.com/tsb/css_wk2_k4011.pdf

By this point in time it's obvious that Chrysler is not giving this a high priority AND Apple isn't making it easy on them. I would suggest you either load the songs onto the radio HD or get a Lockpick CHR550 to use your ipod/iphone. I did both and I use them instead of the factory ipod hookup. I haven't had any issues with either and have stopped worrying about it.
If you don't like my answer then talk to your Dodge dealer or email Dodge directly. There is not much anyone else can do at this point. It did work and then Apple updated their SW and it stopped working for some people. It appears that is going to be a trend and I have chosen to not participate in that endless loop by going around it.
I contacted Chrysler canada about this issue and below is there response::
Thank you for your email of November 17, 2011.
We regret to inform you that the Apple I phone 4S is not on the U Connect compatibility list as of yet. You may visit http://www.dodge.com/en/owners/quality/ to view the compatibility list. I haven't yet called the U connect people but plan to tonight, also on this radio we dont have the sirius travel thing in canada.. we always get ripped off with these things, if i knew what i know now i would have never paid for the upgraded stereo and just bought aftermarket radio instead.
The Travel Link is not that BIG of a thing really..
SiriusXM Travel Link is fully integrated into your vehicle's navigation system to bring you important and useful information while you're on the road, with minimal driver distraction. Whether you're reviewing a three-day weather radar forecast, finding the best gas prices along your route, looking up movie times and locations, or checking sports scores, SiriusXM Travel Link provides you updated, detailed information.
The thing to have that is much more useful is SIRIUS TRAFFIC
With SiriusXM Traffic you'll be able to see color-coded traffic information, including average speed and traffic flow, accident locations, (displayed on the map with an icon), road construction and other incidents. Helpful information about road closures and predicted delays is also available.
Well we have neither in Canada so it still blows, also Chrysler gave me the wrong number for Uconnect problems actual number is: 1-877-855-8400
Anybody wtih Iphone problems should call relentlessly this number to get an answer and a fix.
This number is for american chrysler customer assistance... which i called and they were saying "oh yeah no problem we can send you an update CD" until they found out i was canadian and directed me back to canadian chrysler customer assistance, who didnt help at all and said sorry Iphone 4s is not currently compatible with Uconnect... ANY CANADIANS ON HERE HAVE THIS PROBLEM AND KNOW AN ANSWER?? its really starting to annoy me that i am going to have to go out and buy a hands free bluetooth kit even when i have a $1500 radio that has all that in it already.... still researching this problem, ill update any changes
Hello, what radio do you have? It will be a 3 alpha code on the lower right of the radio faceplate. If it's the RES, , RHB or RBZ, then Chrysler has a TSB (08-036-11A) that will fix this for you. This TSB was originally released on June 29th 2011 and a revision of it was released on Oct 26th 2011. The update takes about 20 minutes to perform. Let me know if you need further assistance with this issue.

many people think that the installation is finished when it SEEMS to stop doing anything, but it is still running in the background, let it continue running longer
the Travel Link will end up being a on screen Soft Key & there will be some kind of color change on the screen, if i remember correctly
Ok, the posts have been a bit scattered which is somewhat confusing.
I have a 2011 Dodge Ram with with the 630N.
My old iphone worked fine but with the iPhone 4s plugged in to either usb port it doesnt read.
Bluetooth still works though.
So which update do I need Uconnect or radio?
I cannot reply(not enough posts yet), i have 430N radio (RBZ code) with nav, i am with bell canada phone company... from what ive gathered Iphone 4S is not compatible with the radios right now in canada.
Nothing works right now - cannot use Usb, bluetooth, or as a phone.
My blackberry worked great.
Ok so now, i renewed my sirius radio subscription and my phone synced up with Uconnect no problem.. Phone works now, bluetooth plays but it sounds like it is in sped up mode?? also does not work as a stand alone ipod when plugged into USB in glove box.... Any suggestions would be great!! I'm in canada if that helps so the updates that you guys talk about on here most of them dont apply to canadian customers according to dodge customer assistance. Thanks
Your first post says it will not work unless you have both updates?? Sirius canada / dodge canada will not provide me with any CD for any update and say they know nothing about this, I do not want to install onl the one update because you state that it will crash if you dont have both.... thanks for the attempt but it seems in canada were behind with our sofware updates i guess ill have to wait until dealer comes out with something, i dont want to affect my radio with me installing any software onto it.
Sorry to hear that. My dealer installed the CD update from one they already had on hand. I would bet it would be safe if you asked the dealer to update your radio to the latest firmware and the UConnect to the latest version. I'm currently running Application version: 23.04.41. If you have the same version already then it's safe to install the UConnect update since it is working well for me.
So I just spent the last three hours on the phone with Chrysler, serius and the dealership. Serius was the only one that knew anything about updates for the 2011 430n radios. They are supposed to be sending me the update for the travel link, which I have never had. The girl from Chrysler told me this radio will "never work with the iPhone 4s". My radio is running on 20.02.01 and have had no luck tracking down the Unconnect or software updates I've seen on here. Any ideas?
OK, a coiuple of things here on these updates:
1) the 2 updates do not have to be done together. One update is only for the Uconnect system, this update fixes the issue of: "error occurred" when plugging in an IPhone or iPOd to the docking cable. The other thing is being able to stream audio fro the phone without the audio being fast or choppy.
2) The Sirrius disc brings the radio SW version up to 23.04.41 and add the travel link to it.
One can be done without the other and have no issues. Is it best to have both "yes" but they can be done independantly.
If you can't find a dealer to help with the Uconnect update, then PM me with an email address and I will send it to you with the instructions. This is the file that I had mrjeep host for me last year. (Please include the year, model of vehicle and the radio that you have. I have been helping a lot of people and it's hard to keep everything memorizes)
3) This update helps several issues with phones other than the IPhones but not all issues.

Go to a different dealer and ask them for the UConnect software update. If they won't help you then go to another dealer. It appears the link to download the file isn't working anymore. Have you tried to PM MrJeepR44 to see if he can send you the file?
I may have to try other dealerships. Luckily I have two or three closer than where I bought the truck. I did try to message MrJeepR44 but I'm too new here. It said I had to have 25 posts before I could message.
8.05.01 is still the latest version for the 430/RBZ

Do these updates only address issues with the Iphone? I have the RBZ and my Droid works fine, so I'm tempted to stick with 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it'.
