As far as I can tell, at first they will come with the 5.7 and a 6 speed and 4:10 gears, but will eventully (late availability) come with the 8 speed and 3:92 gears.
The question is, should I get one with the 6 speed or wait for the 8 speed?
I debated pretty hard on getting a R/T last year and probably would have except it was a LOT slower than my Trailblazer SS..... So I got a challenger instead lol
If I can get a RC/SB either R/T or sport with the 8 speed, I may have to consider the truck again! :thk:

I tried to spec a '13 R/T with the 8 speed on Saturday, but the R/T was not even an option on their Dealer Connect! Anybody have any ideas on this or how to spec it out?
You can buil the r/t it is under sport as an add on im pretty bummed that the new one has heated steering wheel and seats making it hard to keep the 2011
The way that Dealer Connect works is you choose body configuration first. So at my dealer it was 2wd reg cab, then sub model. R/T was not among them. I watched him try and find it for 20 minutes.
There is no problem with strength or friction materials with the ZF eight-speed. This is the best transmission in the world and is used in the Rolls-Royce Phantom and in high performance models of the BMW and Audi with more than 500 horsepower. Fewer clutches is what gives it its efficiency, thus better fuel mileage. We ordered an R/T and we are waiting for the eight-speed.
Not sure if you can get the r/t with the 8 speed i have serched up and down went to 3 dealers and they all said the same thing YOU CANT only comes in the sport r/c not the r/t
I think you are right. The early 2013 Chrysler literature indicated the 8 speed would take all the mechanical advantages away from the R/T, so it becomes kinda pointless.
Test drove a 8 speed rt two months ago and regret not buying it. Soooooo. Off to the dealer tomorrow to buy what I really wanted. Hellllo mopar bye bye toyota tacoma double cab.
